Front Beam Solidworks Model
Front Beam Solidworks Model
Could I please ask if someone could take a measurement on the front beam from the outside of flange on the shock tower upright
from one side to the other to help set up the overall width of the beam.. I am trying to create this beam in Solidworks and would like to have a double check.
Thanks.

Re: Front Beam Measurement
32.625 inches from my file. Give or take a sixteenth as I do not remember how closely I measured...

Re: Front Beam Measurement
From the rules... 9.1.1.C.9 (Body)
E. Any bodywork forward of the center of the torsion bar tubes shall have a maximum width of 31.75 inches (80.645cm).
IIRC THAT is the official measurement from the CENTER of the towers from side to side. About 1/2" either side of center, so Barry's memory sounds pretty close to me.

Re: Front Beam Measurement
Tom, I went out and measured and the number above is pretty close. I did not hold a staight edge to each side to get it dead accurate, but that should be within a sixteenth.

Fantastic Barry. Thanks for checking for me.
Re: Front Beam Solidworks Model
Tom,
I'll bet the guys and gals at VW Autowerks in Germany wish they could have had a rendition like that back in the day .
VERY nice job (assuming all those measurements are correct <g>).

PS - you still planning to do an FV mod for rFactor??

Re: Front Beam Solidworks Model
Darn, very nice indeed. I'm quite jealous. I don't think I have the skill to do this with Autocad Inventor. Plus, I don't think inventor works as well.
