The FV Ad Hoc Committee met on July 1
Members attending: Stevan Davis, John Petillo, Alex Bertolucci, Bruce Livermore, Dietmar Bauerle
Guest(s): Fred Clark, Bill Johnson
The FV Committee authorized the use of funds accumulated over the past few years to produce a video to promote FV. The first part of this video was shot at Button Willow Raceway and the first cut has been made available to the Committee. The Committee asked that the video address certain aspects of racing to include cost, the effort needed to maintain a car, the involvement of friends and family, how the typical driver might get involved regarding maintenance, and the overall appeal of a low budget racing program. Members of the conference call discussed ways to further define our goals for the filming crew.
The first attempt has produced a quality video done by a group of professionals from the West coast. The second part will include additional footage which will provide more on and off track activity. Of course the major limiting factor is the cost, so if members have not as yet contributed to the video fund, there is still ample time to do this. Any and all donations would be appreciated and Stevan Davis has set up a PayPal account to make it easy for anyone interested. http://formulavee.us/Donate.htm
The Committee also discussed the reoccurring subject of allowing custom pistons either forged or billet. The Committee has addressed this issue over the last year and has submitted their opinion to the CRB. The CRB has supported the opinion of the Ad Hoc Committee that custom pistons are not necessary at this time, yet the requests and discussions continue. The Committee has recommended to the FSRC that custom pistons should NOT BE ALLOWED for at least the next 3 years. There appear to be at least 2 options for cast pistons currently available that negate any current need for forged piston allowance.
A purchase of original K/S pistons is in the works and supported by several engine builders.
No other items were presented or discussed.
Next meeting scheduled for August 5
