first time reinstalling engine

I just got my engine back after having it rebuilt and in my shop manual it says to "Apply a light coating of moly-based grease to the splines of the transaxle imput shaft and the faace of the clutch release bearing." My question is. Is there a specific type of grease I need to use or will any moly-based grease work?

To be honest I have never ( in 45 years) applied any grease on the throw out bearing face. I do however use an input shaft when I install the clutch disc to center it and a dab of grease always goes on the end to grease the needle bearing inside the gland nut- which could/would be accomplished by putting the grease on the input shaft. We are talking a small amount here as you do not want it thrown around.
As to type of grease- never gave it much thought.

The clutch was reinstalled when the engine was rebuilt so that part is done. Thanks for the advice Dietmar.

You are welcome.
And just for clarification, I put grease on the NON splined part of the input shaft so that it greases the gland nut bearing, NOT the splines of the input shaft.
