Derek Harding out of California.

Is there any form of test day, track or SCCA run?

I assume a short box?

Friday is the test day. For Sat/Sun you will qualify in the morning and race in the afternoon (hadn't seen the schedule yet tho)
Short Box.
Terraced paddock with power hookups (fee involved). Sunoco gas sold at site.

There is no scheduled test day for the weekend this year. However, there are optional Friday sessions @ $100. There should be a 20 min practice followed by 2 15 min qualifiers.
I'm working on the MSR set up now - I should have it up early next week ... or so (we don't yet have sanction numbers).

My bad on the test day since I was thinking of the Double Regional time frame - National schedule will be different. Looks Like we are about to add a new driver to the mix since he got his license this past w/e at Sebring.

That would be Andrew, I think. He said he was going to the Sebring school. Glad to hear he got his license. I watched him at AMP and recommended that he request a waiver of the second required school based on his successful AMP and apparently they gave it to him. He lives just a few miles away from Barber.

The much anticipated (at least in his own home) return of Charlie Rogers to the National scene is scheduled for this weekend! Now I just need to figure out what condition I left the car in last year...

F5 FF FM FV S2000 + CF F6 FST

Has anyone race with this grouping in this division before? Seems very eclectic. FM maybe, S2000 seems odd.

Pretty mild group - there was one S2 at the Dbl SARRC at RA mid July. There was one other S2 a few years ago in SEDIV. FM is a good bunch and there are a few F6's that play nice. This is a good bunch to play with glad there are no FA's or FS's

Yup - January is heavy with Natl in Fl. then RRoad in Feb then RA and VIR with a gap till Barber (new for 2012)
SARRC is very popular Regional racing in SEDIV

We should add that this event (Barber) has classically been a Double SARRC. Since Rationals are now "the rage", it was changed to a Rational this year just to allow National participants the option of gaining Runoffs points if needed (and to possibly gain a few more entries).

What are the occasional thundershowers like? In California you have you have to go above 5000 ft elevation to fined the occasional late afternoon thundershower.

"occasional thundershowers" means that it is quite likely to rain at least ONE day during the weekend (AT the track). There may, or may not, be associated LIGHTNING and THUNDER there about :-). On rare occasions, we get through the weekend with just "a lot of THREATS".

Brian - the day usually starts somewhat clear and your thunderstorm threat builds as more sun builds up the heat. The clouds will start to thicken and turn dark in the afternoon but still hit and miss. In the past the a/c'ed areas in the tower have several TV's on (since you are in College Football meca) and there are TV's that show weather radar.
It is a neat track and wifes/gf's like it because of the clean restrooms.

We are up to eight - just before today's cut-off. The keep moving the hurricane to the west so Sat is looking like a 40% chance of a storm (or what usually gets placed in the forecasts) Sun looks even better.

Derek Harding is out. We had to make a decision on Sunday. We needed a dry day on Friday to learn the track and that was just not looking probable. Under the current forecast we would have to cross the storm to get to the track from CA. That does not look too appealing with an RV & trailer and the forecasted wind levels.

Next year....

Brian,

Sorry to hear we won't see you this weekend. I agree that I wouldn't want to drive through torrential rains either.

Best regards,
