The 2012 Glen National indicates that the Bonus Group is FF-FV-F500. Does this mean the this event is not a Double Nat anymore? The Bonus Group- FF-FV-F500, is the only group doubling up?

The Bonus Group is a new feature for the NED?

Yes, the Glen National is not a double. Yes, the Bonus group FF-FV-F500 gets two races at this event. The Bonus National idea was tried at two events in 2011 and were reasonably successful. This year, all the groups get a bonus race at some NEDIV National. SRF at NJMP in June, EP FP HP GTL STU and SM SSB SSC T2 T3 at BeaveRun In July and GT1-2-3, STO AS T1 and FA FB FC FE FM S2 CSR DSR at Pocono in August.

Do the bonus races count for points/races as separate entries for the Runoffs? I assume so, but thought I'd ask :-).

And why is this format favored over a Double National by the Division?

Double Nationals get better entries but the organizing Regions kept fighting over who would get the Double Nationals. This is a way they decided to spread the wealth amongst all.
