I got this frame and body along with the C5 Zink and was wondering what it is. Looks like a modern design with zero roll and rear mounted trailing arms. The single shock mounts front to back versus side-to-side. The body is a mystery. There is a long box that runs down the right side of the body. Looks like it directs airflow. The car was run in SARRC so maybe someone recognizes it?

Thanks Bob. I have been using the upload attachment tab and that doesn't seem to like me! I have not been able to find another frame like this one. It is made very well though. The Zero-roll is different too.

Okay,

The zero-roll monoshock looks like it came from a Gaspar, although the body reminds me of a Predator.

The brake system looks like a Citation, but other cars adapted it.

Looks like an interesting car - any other ideas?

There were all those cool homebuilt/custom cars in the SE in the 70s-80s. The true spirit of FV .... but pushed aside with homologation, fuel cells, and drivers with money to buy cars.

I could meet you halfway!!! I was thinking about dropping a 2.0 914 engine and transaxle in it and running it in FS!!!

The body has got semi recent SCCA Club Racing stickers, so one would assume it has raced at SCCA events in the past 20 years. If so, the car must (well, at least should) have the log book number stamped into the main roll hoop. If so, the first three digits are the log book issuing region and the second set (3 or 4 digits) is the sequential number issued. If you can get those numbers, the issuing region must (again, at least it should) keep a permenent record of log books issued, it should not be too hard to find out something about the car via log book number. Then again, it could be a spare chassis that never raced and body panels that have.

At first glance, the car appears to be a home construction FV. Could be 1 of 1, but certainly not a production car.

Let us know if you find numbers on the roll bar.

Thanks Bill. I'll look for a stamp. It does have the inspection hole drilled in it. The PO sandblasted the frame (except the zero-roll) and did not paint it so I should be able to find a stamp. Let you know what I find.

Could not find a stamp on the frame. I tried to put the body on the frame but it is a puzzle. It says "Illusion" on the side but I could not find any FV named Illusion so it just may be what the owner named his own car. Looks like I have a mystery car. It is made very well and the welds looks beautiful. Maybe I will put a 4.3 V6 in it and see what it will do...hahahahaha.

There were indeed some innovative cars in the SE region. it's got SARRC stickers, so someone may be able to recognize it. Kinda has that vista/Agitator look on the bodywork.

Didn't see them before, but it has Valvoline Pro-Vee stickers as well.

Someone out there in SE knows this car.... Mr. Davis maybe?

Nope - nothing about it familiar to me except that the nose has that 'Adams look'. That's a pretty unique rear suspension ... never seen anything like that before. I don't run many SARRC events and precious few of those guys ever drop by a National event.

Joe's been around for a while. Good chance he'd know what it is.

I have a sneaking suspicion the asymmetry was unintentional..as in, backed into a wall.

Is the asymmetry we're talking about the big mysterious duct going down the right side of the car? When I first saw it I was wondering if there was supposed to be one on the left side as well...

The rear of the frame where the trailing arms mount. Bent to the right (starboard) side.

I think that is just the angle of the photo. The frame looks square. I was thinking there should be a similar side pontoon for the drivers side but there was none. Just the flat body section and all of the pieces match the paint scheme so it was built this way for some purpose. The nose was only modified on one side as well. The drivers side has small wings that cover the front beam tubes.

Here are a couple of photos of the rear frame. Everything bolted up just as it should. I could not find any damage on the frame at all.

yes, i was referring to the body panels. since one side seems to have the pontoon on the one side and flat bodywork on the other

Is it possible that the "lopsided" panels were designed to run on ovals?

I see it was just a photographic illusion. Are ALL the body panels there??
