In-Car Cameras

Post by fvkartguy »

I've been looking into getting a camera to put in the car, but haven't decided what kind I want to get...
The ones I've been considering are:
the GoPro Hero5 (of course)
Oregon Scientific ATC5K
Tachyon XC

Has anyone tried any of these or any other camera they'd suggest or review?

The most helpful site I've found so far is:
http://helmetcamreview.wordpress.com/20 ... mber-two2/
which seems to be in favor of the Tachyon.

P.S. - if anyone is thinking about bidding on cameras on ebay, let me know so we're not bidding against each other!

I would be looking for an HD system. Both GoPro and 20Twenty offer HD systems. I have an older GoPro Hero non-HD system. I am happy with the system except for one thing, no remote. I am often alone when I go racing and can't use the camera since I have no one to turn it on for me. I could turn it on when I get in the car and head for the grid, but the system is pretty hard on batteries and I have had it stop recording in the middle of a race.

Here is a link to the discussion about the 20twenty HD. There is also a guy selling the older version 720p for $150, which is pretty darn good considering its the whole unit, camera, recorder, and micro sd card. If you are looking for high quality to play back on TV I would go for HD, but if your only using it on your computer, then the non-HD ones should work fine.
