Fan housing question.

I am currently restoring a Vee to vintage specs and I was wondering if the style of housing that has the oil cooler in its own seperate compartment is allowable. I have been told this will help with the cooling considerably. I run a FF normally so I do not know much about the Vee other than I wanted one. The Vee I bought had been run in the SCCA in the 80's and was without the generator, fan, housing, and had a remote oil cooler and airducts for cooling. Any help would be appreciated. The Vee guys seem to have a lot more fun on the track and I want to duck out of the FF group occasionally and have a good time in the Vee. thanks - Marcus

Marcus:

Can't speak for all vintage organizations, but I would guess in most the off set or "doghouse" fan is NOT allowed. Check with your orgnization.

Aren't the 1200 fan shrouds narrower (across the engine) than the 1600's? I didn't think they were interchangeable? Dietmar?
