Exclusive Formula Vee Race

Post by Kim291 »

The Vintage Auto Racing Association (VARA) will be hosting "The Formula Vee Challenge Race" for all Formula Vee's at our next event.

Next Event: Oktoberfest at Buttonwillow Raceway, located just outside of Bakersfield, CA. on September 11th and 12th, 2010.

It will be a race for Formula Vees exclusively. Buttonwillow is a great 2.92 mile track for the Vees. We will be using the #25 track configuration.

A typical VARA schedule is: Saturday morning practice, a Qualifier Race, Sunday morning practice and the regular Vara race Sunday afternoon.
Challenge Race to be held Saturday. You will be placed on the grid for the Challenge Race based on the finishing position in the Qualifier Race . All entrants are of course welcome to run all three races .

There will be 4 classes of Vees- the current VARA classification will be in effect with a 4th class for modern cars.
Trophies for 1st and 2nd place in each class.
Special keepsake souvenir.
Group Photo for each driver.
Prize Giveaways
Saturday night BBQ for Vee Drivers and their families.

We need to get at least 15 Vees to make this happen so lets use this special privilege that VARA is offering to us.

Exclusive Formula Vee Race Results

Post by Kim291 »

The Victory Lane Formula Vee Challenge Race at Buttonwillow Raceway in CA was a success!! VARA had a total of 17 vees for this exciting event!! We had a few of the Northern California SCCA vees come join us and we had a blast. There was lot of great, clean and fast racing.

I would like to congratulate the winners of the race. They are as follows:

FV3 – Aaron Meyer - 1st Place (First over-all)

FV2 – Terran Swanson – 1 st place (4th over-all)
FV2 – Chris Quinteros – 2nd place (7th over-all)

FV1 – Bob Hatle – 1st Place (2nd over-all)
FV1 – Kim Madrid – 2nd place (3rd over-all)

FV – Rudy Madrid – 1st Place (10th over-all)
FV – Don Readinger – 2nd Place (11th over-all)

We had Kirby set up big screen TV and we were able to watch the race from a different perspective again.
The BBQ that evening was a hit. Rudy Madrid BBQ’d his famous tri-tip. It was delicious!

I personally would like to thank all of our sponsors that donated the great prizes that made the raffle possible. Buttonwillow Raceway for the set of American Racer tires that went to Jack Bonesteal, Bill and Lisa Noble from Noble Engine for the 4 - $50 cash prizes and the contingency discount cert. to all the vee entries towards motor rebuilds, Quixote Racing (Dietmar) for the many gift certificates towards motor rebuilds/parts, K&N Air filters for the certificates for the cases of oil filters and hats, Roxanne’s Headers for the discount certificates towards components and exhaust systems, Victory Lane Magazine for the keepsake posters, Morgan and Phillips for the t-shirts, and most of all to The Vintage Auto Racing Association (VARA) for giving me the opportunity to host this vee race at their Oktoberfest event.

Make sure you mark your calendars for this event next year. It will be held on September 10th and 11th, 2011.

You wont want to miss it!!
