Does anyone know if 36 HP pistons (77mm) can be used in 40 HP barrels, or is the wrist pin location diffeerent than the 40 HP piston?
thanks, don

Don:
First, if you have 36hp pistons, they are worth a lot more than any 40 horse so you might want to hold on to them.
The 1200 rings will fit either the 36 or the 40.
As far as I know, the "stock" deck on the 36 is lower ( closer to the wrist pin) as the compression on the 36 is lower than the 40hp.
I also believe the 36 does not have the offset.
Hope this helps

Re: 36 HP Pistons
So without the offset, 36 hp pistons would not be legal to use as they do represent a exact replica of a 40 hp piston?
