NARRC Runoffs?
Re: NARRC Runoffs?
OK..I'll try
Forecast for wet weather kept some folks from coming. First qualifying session
was very wet...second session saw a drying line and the race the next day was
dry for the most part.
A little drizzle on and off during the 30 lap race made the track somewhat unpredictable
(at least I thought so) and caught out Parker at West Bend with Leone unable to
avoid Parkers gearbox. So they were out ~ lap 20.
Congrats to Russell Fredricks for winning the race and Tony Leone for taking
the NARRC top spot!

Re: NARRC Runoffs?
I will fill in some more details:
I was in between Anthony Parker and Tony Leone when Anthony spun (a tony sandwich?) and I juuuusttt made it by, but Tony, being the 3rd car had less time to react.
Note: I don't know if would have helped, but with the repaving and new course at Lime Rock, if someone spins early at West Bend you can turn left! There is no more berm at least till you get past the track out point. If you have run there for 30+ years it is hard to comprehend, but it can be done - lots of new asphalt and the curbs are not that bad...
Back to the race. On the restart there were 3 Club Fords that passed us, or at least almost all of us. This allowed Russ to build up a bout a 3 second lead over Dan Jr, Colin Lawrence and myself. We got hooked up and kept going faster and faster - our last 3 laps were almost a second faster than Russ! One more lap and we would have blown past him like an out of control freight train. Alas, it was not to be, and the gap between 1st and 4th was around 1 second, all of us in line.
For a small field (did the Club Fords chase some people away? or was it just the economy (the entry fee was still almost $400....)) and different weather conditions each session - the first qualifying was almost monsoon and you could not see the car in front of you, it was a good weekend except for the two above.
With the changing weather (it started to rain as we went to the grid, but it stopped soon after, although a light mist during the race might have helped Anthony's spin) who would have thought we would have been down to almost National times in the race.
Now let's see how the new surface makes it through the winter.

Re: NARRC Runoffs?
I must admit I was disappointed by the lack of entries. After a frame bending crash at the Glen two weeks earlier, I probably shouldn't have raced...but, I hate to miss the narrc runoffs......it's usually the best regional of the year. Perhaps the popularity of the vee-fest outings lowered the count.
I'm still glad I went.
