Re: MARRS 6 regional at Summit Point
How is the pavement this weekend? I heard there was some repaving recently to correct some rather horrid track degradation in a few corners.

Re: MARRS 6 regional at Summit Point
The track had good grip today , but turns 1 ,5 and 6a are full of 10 ft patches of bumps and slick sealer right on the racing line.

race report -
FV was race group 1, and the conditions were almost perfect (except for the bumpy track conditions in turns 1 and 5-6) - dry track, sunny, low humidity, and moderate temp. Great weather and lots of grip.
The result was great racing with Doug Voss doing a fastest race lap of 1:25.565, just a tick off the long-standing FV lap record, and the fastest vee time seen for maybe 5 years.
There were also 4 others (Oseth, Saltenberger, Hannum, and O'Connor) that did laps in the 26's.
Oseth led almost all, if not all the laps (I'm not sure if Voss didn't lead 1 lap), but was closely pursued by Voss and Saltenberger.
Voss had a rocker shaft clip break late in the race resulting in a reduction in power, but managed to hang onto 2nd.
Saltenberger made an aggressive move down the inside of turn 1 from 3rd in line on the last lap that almost worked, but lost the rear at the apex and had a slow spin. He recovered to finish 3rd.
Behind the lead group, O'Connor, Hannum, Qualls, and Schiff had a great battle with constant position changes. Schiff dropped back later in the race.
On track, the order of finish was O'Connor, Hannum, and Qualls.
But all were penalized 3 positions for passing under the yellow late in the race as they lapped a slower car in a corner under a yellow.
Behind them, Oswald and Young had their own battle.
Thru the first half of the race Varano, the Maloneys, Smith, and Ashley put on the usual entertaining vee show.
Congrats to all for a fantastic showcasing of FV racing.
