Caracal D for Sale

Post by Markfv »

For Sale Caracal D. This car has been a SCCA regional champion for five of the last seven years it ran in CA with two different drivers. Best recent finish’s were third in the CA Speedway National in July 2007 and two Regional wins at Buttonwillow in September. I now run a Vintage Vee so it is time to let go of it.

This car has a taller roll hoop from Fred Clarke, it is also 2” wider at the shoulders (20” wide), it also has the added engine nose mount for a stiffer frame. The current driver is 5’9” and 225 lbs. It will accommodate taller drivers up to 6’. This car was taken down to the frame in September 2004. Was powder coated black. Has aluminum belly pan. Front beam has spindles using offset bushings, Carrera shocks and Ron Chuck shock mounts. Rear shock is a Penske. Brakes have Carbotech shoes and Tilton bias adjust. Has analogue and Digital tach, VDO oil pressure and temp, Exhaust temp and Longacre hot lap timer installed. Comes with Longacre upgrade to microcomputer and downloadable lap results. Impact Racing belts with 8 point connections (Formula Style) dated Jan 2007. Trans is a short box with a 1.22 third. Engine has jet hot coated Sipos flat four exhaust, oil cooler block with filter (no rubber oil lines) and was rebuilt by Dietmar Bauerle of Quixote Racing.

Comes with two sets of rims with used Hoosiers, one set rims with used rains, a few Caracal specific parts such as trailing arm ends, zero roll parts, fire wall and other fab parts. Price is $7500. Complete. Would need current belts and a fresh battery would be prudent. The car as a roller only is $5000.

A zero time engine with Noble heads is available as a long block for $3000.
Car is located in Southern CA.

Racing electronics SP50 radio set. $500.

A racing spares kit can be arranged. I have spindles, backing plates, trailing arms, steering box, axle tubes, axles, gasket sets, ignition parts, fuel pumps, carbs and extra rims. These parts are available and priced separately.

Additional pictures are available. Body is being repainted at this time.
