Anyone looking for a 1915 engine in Florida?

Post by 1969zeitler »

I am thinking about putting the 72 Zink back to Vintage so I will have a brand new 1915 for sale. It was bought from Appletree and has never been run. It is in the car but has only been started in the garage. Engine was $3000 and then they added $1000 dual Dellortos. I would sell the engine without the carbs for $2000 or with them for $2500. Just drop this engine in your car and go. It needs nothing. Has Chrome shroud and a generator. Come hear it run before I pull it.

Thanks.

Unless I missed something, dual carbs are not legal in F-Mod on a 1915, only a 1600. Other than that, it sounds like a good option for someone looking to test the 1915 Solo Vee spec option.....

You are correct. The guy I bought the car from did not care what class he was going to run in. It would have been B-Mod with dual carbs. He also put $600 worth of Yokohama tires on it that I can't use. They are also brand new but they are 15 inch, probably not good for SOLO. He never got a chance to run it and I bought the Zink with the motor in it. I was going to run it in SOLO but the car is so Original, it would be a shame not to put it back to Vintage 1972. If I don't sell the engine with the carbs, I will put a 1600 in the ASP frame and put the duals on it for F-MOD SOLO.

So do you know exactly what size valves are on the 1915? And how much head work it has?

I am going to pull the valve covers next week to verify it but they are supposed to have 40x35.5 heads. I am going out of town tomorrow and back next Sunday. Will check then. When I crank up this engine, it sounds MEAN!!!!! If you are near Orlando, come by and see it and hear it in the car.

Those valve sizes are illegal for FM. What about the compression ratio. It can't be higher than 9.0:1. Since the engine has two carbs and larger valves, I wouldn't be surprised if it has higher than legal compression.

It was a local guy who is going to put it in his 63 Bus to give it more pulling power. It should be great for that! I am keeping the Dellortos and may drop them on a 1600 and put that engine in the ASP for SOLO. Heading to Tennessee, Virginia and Maryland for a week.
