Finger Lakes National Tour

Post by vreihen »

I just got home from Seneca a little while ago. One Vee out of 6 drivers in FM, and he finished 5th. :(

I talked with Todd Miller after impound. His car is a 1600 with dual carbs, but he has not built his engine out to the limits of the new allowances. He runs against the winning snowmobile all the time in the local region, and said that they were on sticker tires but also noticeably stepped up their game at this event.

If it is small consolation, 100% of the Vee present was able to be driven to impound after it's last run, but 67% of the F500's had to be dragged/limped/carried off the course to impound. The final run DNF's on both 2-driver snowmobiles were for mechanical problems. One was a rim fatigue failure, and they had to push the car off into the grass until the end of the heat and then bring out a spare wheel to drive it back in. On Saturday, the FJR group drew all kinds of criticism for holding up the event at the end of heat #2, while everyone was waiting at the start line for the mid-day course walk. On Sunday, the anger was directed at FM at the end of heat #1, due to the red flags and reruns for broken snowmobiles.....
