2009 Nationals?

Post by Lynn »

With the departure of the Runoffs from HPT after this year, the Nationals are homeless. The National office is actively searching for a new site. Inquiries were apparently made about the use of the former Richards-Gebauer Air Force Base in Grandview, MO. Kansas City owns the facility and is turning into a multi-modal freight terminal. The city isn't interested in our little event. I understand that several regions have been contacted concerning the suitability of their venues.

So where do we go next? Anyone have any ideas as to a suitable facility? The criteria include two pads at least 700' by 700' (and two 1000' x 1000' pads would still be small than Forbes was), a paddock area of about 1000' x 1500', and sufficient hotel space to accomodate around 2500 people.

Do I have a deal for you! How about two isolated 1000' x 1000' *concrete* pads, paddock lots nearby, and usually 99% empty on weekdays once the beach season ends at Labor Day:

All that you have to do is convince Topeka to provide some assistance in helping us lobby New York State to get use of the site. Well, then convince those on the left coast to drive half way to England for Nationals.....
