Really can not help as this is NOT a Formula Vee.
If it has a VW engine, then my guess might be an early Super Vee ( with headlights)

Others might be able to give a better answer. Sorry.

Thanks. What makes it not a Vee?

Briefly, from what I can see:

tires, lack of link pin suspension, trailing arm ( singular), wheels, length of nose over the front end, coil overs shocks on front.

One thing we can say is that it is pretty OLD. There is something on the sides of the bodywork behind the roll bar .. might say "Indianapolis..." ? but can't quite read it. There are also several decals along the sides near the center that MIGHT indicate where might have participated in the (distant) past. It IS an interesting looking car .. but far from an FV.

Post some pix showing whatever is written on the cowl just behind the roll bar .. and what is in the engine bay (if anything) ... and then the transmission. It DOES have some semblances to an early vee, but the WHEELS/TIRES are nowhere close ... nor is the 'rocker type' front suspension.

Look at the left (driver's) side of the roll bar and see if there is anything STAMPED into the bar .. like a NUMBER series - maybe 2 or 3 digits, then a dash and then 2 to 4 digits more. Also search for a PLATE of some kind indicating "SOME" construction information. Might be behind the driver's head location ... or attached to the roll bar .. or base structure at almost any place. Some were near the front bulkhead .. some were behind the main roll bar. More pix with the bodywork removed might help.

We'll be glad to help if we can .. but it's NOT a "Formula Vee" .. and probably never was.
A brief search on "Jim Shillings" revealed nothing related to racing.

The only visible VW component I can see are the front spindle / brake drums, and they have been reversed right/left from the standard VW.

Well I picked the car up. Still no clue who made it. Has a VW engine. Might be auto. It was a Shriners car. Garaged for the last 23 years. Has halibrand wheels and spinners. Tube frame. No idea what to do with it. Cleaned up pretty good. Came with nice trailer.

Hey guys, nice to meet you all. I was able to get this cool car and take a closer look. I saw someone asked for pictures with the body off. It's a corvair engine. VW 4 speed. Only stamp in frame is a 3 digit number.

Are you sure it's a Corvair engine? That would be a 6 cylinder. Pretty tight fit for the back of that car I would think.

Its definitely Corvair flat 6. I'm having trouble with the pics saying board attachment level reached. I'll figure it out and get the pictures with the body off.

There IS a default limit of picture uploads on this forum. I think it's 500 pictures .. or 500 megabytes or something. I'll see if I can figure it out. I might need to delete some of the older pix, but hard to decide which ones to wipe.

You can always post them somewhere else on one of the photo sites and LINK to them from a post here.

Wow.. that must be a PACKED rear cowl.. and a lot of horses for that chassis. Bet it can do GREAT burnouts! But I would be VERY careful with getting it on a real track. I'll be it's a handling BEAST at anything faster than 40 or 50 MPH.. at least in any turns.

I just reduced the allowed file size from 3 MB to 2 MB (should be plenty) and raised the total board limit to 500 MB from 50. When I set all this up, I didn't have any idea how many pix might be uploaded or what impact it might have on the server, so I decided to keep it small until I had a handle on it. When we reach the next cutoff, I'll have to decide again
Steve
PS. You should be able to upload now - just make sure your pix are no larger than they need to be to show what you need/want to. Keep in mind that most people's screen size it not THAT big so trying to upload 10 MB pix is a waste of time and space. I'll have to check again to see if the board has a way to automatically 'crunch' larger pix into smaller ones.

I tried to shrink the images down. These darn IPhones take such large pics. You could always delete out a few of the 1st pics. The OP duplicated. Just leave 1 or 2 with the body on. I think I captured the frame and engine in mine. Only stamping I could find is a three digit number 277.

Thanks

The image references are encoded (not easily identified) within the board software. Don't worry about it - at least for now. I did find THIS (link below) that *MIGHT* have something to do with your car. Unfortunately, the original listing on eBay has apparently been deleted, but it does have some text that you might find interesting.

hi guys. I'm new to this forum and formula vee. I have recently picked up a vee project that has been in storage for 7+ years. The car did not come with log books and I am trying to identify it. I didn't know if I should post here or start my own thread. The VIN stamped on the roll bar is 03-325. What I assume is a Nobel racing engine (due to body work stickers) has 215 stamped on the cases. I have talked to my local scca tech guy and he was unable to help much. He directed me here. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't recognize the bodywork. If no one else does, get the body of and post a few picks of the chassis.
