Oil filters on Vintage engines

Post by 1969zeitler »

My engine is not machined for full-flow and I have to use the shroud and stock cooler to run in Vintage so how do I plumb in a filter? Does anyone use the pump that has the in and out fittings on the cover? How bout the combo pump/filter setups that have the filter bolted on the side of the pump? I know the best setup is full-flow and it will be on my next motor, but what can I do now without machining my already built block? thanks again.

The easiest way is with the bolt on pump cover w/filter attached. Make sure you have room. Unless you have a cooling problem, I would not worry about a full flow system. You will not gain anything in performance, HP or protection. We have the bolt ons (right and left). Let us know if you want to go that way.

Thanks Jim. I will take some measurements. There is a cross brace on each side that might be too close. Do you have one that will fit the 6mm pump bolts on a 40hp block?
