2016 NEFV Series Wrapup - A Great Success

Post by jpetillo »

Our First Northeast Formula Vee Championship Series season has come to a close. The year was a huge success. The series racers enjoyed some of the biggest fv groups in years, with 19 registered drivers, and 5 race weekends. We had standouts such as Mike Hinkle winner of the Series, Skip Popiak coming in second, and Nick Galuardi taking the bronze. Then we had Kevin O’Day stepping up for Most Improved Driver, and Rookie Of The Year Jennifer Ferreira. Twelve of our drivers made the long trek to Watkins Glen to try out the fresh pavement.

We want to start by acknowledging the generous support of our sponsors. They are:
NEFV Graphics – Vicky Sax
Quixote Racing – Dietmar Bauerle
Vee Sport Racing – Steve Pastore
Autowerks – Dave Carr
OTB Promotions – Lou Gingerella & Josh Vanada
Gagnon Sign – Doug Gagnon

Special thanks goes first to Vicky Sax who graciously volunteers her time to provide us with the always-inspirational NEFV graphics and all of our Logos, and is always there for to support us with those last minute requests. Special thanks also goes to Steve Pastore of Vee Sport Racing for joining us at several of our race weekends, generously donating his time, expertise, and experience helping racers with repairs, improvements in setup, coaching, and his unique style of humor.
Our 10-race, 5-weekend series schedule was the following, with the best 8 out of 10 races counting toward the championship standings.
1. Open Wheel Weekend - Thompson Motor Speedway
2. NER SCCA - New Hampshire Motor Speedway
3. NER SCCA - Thompson Motor Speedway
4. NY Region SCCA - Watkins Glen International
5. NER SCCA - Palmer Motorsports Park

NEFV for 2017: Next year our Series is looking towards the following venues….
May 6-7 Palmer
May 27-28 NHMS
June 16-17 LRP
July 14-16 Thompson
Aug 5-6 NHMS
Sept 9-10 Palmer

The NEFV Group worked hard to never leave a member down whether helping with spare parts or helping replace a beam on Jeff Adams car at NHMS, rebuilding the rear suspension on Kevin O’Day’s Vee at The Glen, trying to get Nicholas Galuardi back on track at Palmer, or making sure our own Race Chair Extraordinaire Bruce Rodman keeps coming back. NEFV embodies truly the best of sportsmanship in racing.

We look forward to 2017, and welcoming all the new racers who will be joining us next year.

Finally, we NEFV Coordinators appreciate the support we got through the year and the opportunity to help make this all happen.

Steve - thank you very much - we appreciate it. Maybe we'll see you up here for the Thompson Majors this year - if you want to get away.
