Runoffs 2015

Post by jstoezel »

This is information I am posting on behalf of Stevan Davis with regards to the runoffs at Daytona:

It’s hot .. but not nearly as hot (so far) as it usually was when I used to come in May (mid 80’s when the sun if out.. but lots of clouds, so low 80’s most of the time). Light rain overnight.. nothing so far today.. but it’s in the forecast…)
Not much going on so far. We arrived with no real issues and got parked. Have 3 Vees testing today. Shields is setting the pace with couple of 2:25’s in the 2nd session a few minutes ago. Edwards pulled a high ’25 with a good draft off of Kittell. Kittell and Edwards ran together, Shields alone. 2 more sessions to go.

I’m having to use my cell phone as a hotspot .. there is NO INTERNET here L.
So .. not much visits to the forums.
You can post my info above if you want .

I go out 2nd group in the AM.

Varicins well under the track record of 225.4 on Thursday by himself. Saturday he is at 223.2; no knowledge of his use of a draft.

40 sec full throttle from the Bus Stop to turn 1.. where you turn down into the interior. Another 35 sec full throttle where you re-enter the oval (exit the interior) to the Bus Stop. Does that sound exciting?

Serious humidity. The occasional rain day and/or night is guaranteed to keep the interior of the track nice and soggy where it is not paved. The dew point is in the high 70's.

Not at the track. Just working with a couple of contacts.

The humidity is too much for a this guy from Southern Calif.

Hopefully Davis can add some more info from today.

I learned that Varicins time was without a draft. Davis possibly turned a 223.9. No one else has broken into the 23's.

An interesting interview would be with Mark Felsen and Tyler Hunter. They are a team out of Denver running both FA and FV. Their perspective on the speed differentials between the two classes would be very interesting.

Thanks Brian. The humidity is a bit much when you are not used to it
