Autumn Challenge Cup format change

Post by gdavis »

After reviewing the entries for the first two races of the Autumn Challenge Cup Series a decision has been reached to change the series from a three-tiered format (National, Regional and Rookie licenses) to a straight-up championship.

Season championship trophies will now be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd points totals, determined by individual finishing positions for the four weekend’s races. These trophies will be awarded at a live ceremony after racing has ended for the day on Saturday afternoon at the Spook-tacular Quad at Nelson Ledges (10/19/13).

It was decided to eliminate the Regional and Rookie license categories because of a lack of significant numbers. However it has been decided that if a qualified rookie driver does enter any of the series’ races he or she would be awarded any points accumulated multiplied by a factor of 1.25.

These changes have been made to try to match up the Series goals with the reality of the present racing situation and we wanted to inform any potential participants as soon as possible. If anyone has any questions or concerns about this, please contact me.

Sounds OK to me. Some people just race at regionals... but have National licenses... and giving rookies an adjustment in the points can only encourage turnout.
The idea of this fall series is new... so adjustments on-the-fly are to be expected.
Lookin' forward to seeing ya'll at the Fun 1.

Dennis,
Thanks for understanding about our decision. We are trying to balance the fun factor but still have a meaningful championship and this was how we decided to go about it.
Look forward to seeing you at the Fun One and to some more good wheel-to-wheel stuff.
