Roebling Road Hints

Post by satterley_sr »

I looked at the 45th videos. Is it all fourth gear? Any hints for the first time driver there?

Thanks

Hi Dave,

With a short box (which is what I always used), you only use 4th gear. I always drove my car like a go-cart there and left foot braked. The biggest thing is to be smooth and pay lots of attention to your exit speed. It is easy to get a lot of understeer in the slower corners so if you carry too much speed in then you might get understeer which will cause you to have to lift and kill your exit speed. Left foot braking obviously can help keep some more weight on the front tires to counteract that understeer. However, you can carry a lot of speed into T1 but just be prepared to be on the ragged edge as you setup for T2. Oh yeah, the draft is HUGE -- use it wisely and time your passes!! Good luck!!

1) Turn 1 is WAY faster than you think!
2) I loved passing under braking inside 4
3) 5 and 6 are NOT passing areas
4) It's all straightaway from turn 6 to turn 1
5) turn 2 is a double apex
6)Be extremely careful at turn 9(?) where it meets the front straight. There's a hump and it doesn't meet at a ninety.
7)Never shift with a short box
