VeeFest'08

Post by Thomas Galuardi »

If you missed the "Big One" in Georgia, come to the "small one" in New Hampshire. We will be holding VeeFest '08 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on May 24/25. The Formula Vee drivers of the Northeast have had this annual event for several years. There is a fantastic luncheon and prizes for all. Check out http://www.vracing.org for more information.

Here's some additional info on the schedule for Vee Fest '08 :

-We are going to be the last race group on that weekend. If you're towing from a long distance, there's no need to get to the track on Friday nite, as registration will be open on Sat morning as well.

- There will be lots of track time on that weekend.
-Sat a.m./qualifying
-Sat p.m./qualifying race #1
-Sun a.m./qualifying race #2
-Sun p.m./feature race

-This still leaves Monday (holiday)to spend with family and friends.

The Vee Fest weekends have always been great fun and great racing. I'm sure Vee Fest '08 will be the best yet!

I'm looking forward to seeing all you guys there.

Watch nessca.com for the on-line registration.

Hey folks,

1) If you're planning on racing Vee Fest '08 be sure to register no later than Tuesday, May 20th as that's the last day for early entries. After that date, it'll cost you more $$$$$ to register.

2) Jerry Rigoli......Jeff Baringer.......Brian Baringer.......Andy Pastore...... you guys are registered for Sunday only.
Did you mean to register for both Saturday and Sunday? If so, you need to go back on line and put your registration in for Saturday also.

See you there....

Looks like one qualifying, one qualifying race, and two regional races. Am I reading this wrong?

I'm signed up by mail for both days.

grid set by best lap in previous day’s race. Then 18
laps or 25 minutes Regional Race by race group and a

Thanks you everyone who pulled this together. Being out there with 20 other FV's was a blast. Yesterday and today were the most fun I have ever had on the track. Everyone that I ran with out there was fantastic. I am very much looking forward to next event.

In case anyone was wondering about my early departure from Sunday afternoon's race - the bolt holding my steering box loosened during the race and the bolt holding the steering shaft joint was rubbing on my beam and brake fluid reservior. Everytime I turned left it took a great deal of effort and in turns 6 and 9 where I had to turn "more" left the wheel was equally hard to unwind. I did ride out enough laps to "complete" the race and got signed off for my regional licence.

Craig, congratulations on the regional license. Great picture!

To all the the VeeFest folks, I'm sorry I couldn't make it. I was really hoping to make the Sunday race - even expecting to actually make it, but as the day came closer, I knew it was going to be difficult or impossible. There are just not enough hours in the day!

It looks like the weather was beautiful, and you had a great turnout. Congratulations and thanks to the organizers.

Veefest 2008 was GREAT, the largest group in a long time according to Dick. Jon VandeCar had the lead for a good part of the race followed by Dick Steward until they came around to some lap traffic… a bent tie rod later, Dick took the lead and held it until the end. Thanks to all the sponsors it was a great event!!!

Congrats to ALL!!!

Having watched the race as a spectator from the oval grandstands, the racing proved excellent throughout the field throughout the weekend. There was a lot of tight racing and good efforts by many drivers and it was exciting to watch. Like always the FV guys made it a point to help each other including Jon Vandecar stepping in to assist with technical inspections Saturday morning and provide special attention to get the FV's through tech quickly, while I was left waiting in line with another class car. Notable drives were put in by the lead three: Vande, Dick Stewart and Dennis, and on down the line that included Bruce, Tony and Dan Jr. The younger drivers also fared well and turned in some good performances. Although I missed this one, it was great to be there anyway. Congratulations to everyone.

In the past, Northeast Veefest's have been peppered with black flagged practices, full course cautions, and overly aggressive driving. With the largest field in years, there were no black flags, no full course cautions, and only aggressive but sensable driving. 8) As a participant and outside observer, I think all the drivers should be commended for an outstanding two days. Thanks to all the organizers (Dick, John, Bruce, Dennis, Paul and Tom), for putting a great event together with limited time. Thanks to all the sponsors for their continued support of our event. Maybe next year we'll have 30 participants!

This was my first VeeFest, in fact it was my first time driving a FV.
I want to first thank everyone for missing me in T3 in race 1 & 3 on both starts.
FV racing tires take a little longer to warmup than my Miata tires.
I was surprised at how similar the FV was to my SM, although the Vee does handle better.
Race lines, braking points and power to weight made it easy to adjust.
Thanks to Jon, Paul and everyone involved in the #5 car for making the whole experience enjoyable.

I just might need to get me one of these toys!
Oh, and I lied, I did drive one in 1975 at Thompson.
