Can anyone tell me how you mounted your speed sensor on a FV?

Thanks

I just drilled a hole in the backing plate. Drilled and tapped a8-32 cap screw in the drum ,loctite the bolt in you are all set. Assuming you are not using a magnetic pickup.

Mine is the magnetic pickup type, and is set up the similarly to Dave's.

I mounted mine on a piece of 0.060 steel attached to the end of the spindle steering arm. It's an AIM pickup and I brazed a nut to the outer edge of the brake drum to hold the magnet. Been working fine for 20 years.

Of course you know to re balance your drum.

Here's one - yes, it's crude but, effective

Actually the wire to the sensor adds a LOT of stability to the 'bent piece of crap' that holds the sensor.
if you're really worried about drum balance, you can always put another magnet opposite the first one.

The easiest way is to mount it near the carb on a fabricated bracket. Then attach the arm on the AIM TPS to the arm on the Carb with a piece of safety wire. It does not have to move the sensor the full movement of the arm, After install you will calibrate the AIM to indicate full and zero throttle.

We have drilled into the drum edge as described here for the magnet. A simple aluminum fabricated mount for the pickup. Looks simlar to what Stevan has done. Locktite everything. Also a touch of JB weld on the magnet. They have a habit of falling out of that little housing.
