Advantage would be, they will last a very long time. :P
Disadvantage would be, they will not stick as well as the racing tires.

Back before Bridgestone bought into Firestone, I was a road racing tire dealer for them around here (SE Michigan) I was informed about a tire test they did at Road Atlanta, shortly before the sale and thus the demise of the road racing tire programs. They built some test sets of radial slick tires for a F/Vee (using the safety spare tire mold). The test results were that the radial tires were adding one HP per tire, to the vehicles apparent power on that long straight (before the latest changes before the bridge).

Hmm.. so with four radial tires installed, plus stuffing a couple inside the cockpit with me (I am pretty skinny..) I'd have a 6hp advantage... Hmmm.. Bridgestones you say?

Until you get to a corner and then what is the advantage? Did lap times improve?

No FV tire yet, but Hoosier has released some radial slicks.

FYI - in case anyone is not aware ...

9.1.1.C.3.D Any tire size may be fitted, except that ungrooved radial race tires (radial slicks) are not allowed.
