Getting Started in Formula Vee BOOK

Post by FV80 »

Although Jim Schings has closed down his business and retired, he has given me permission to update and publish his FV BOOK (in PDF form) to the FV Community. I would like to thank Jim for his efforts and generosity in allowing this. I have installed it on the http://www.FormulaVee.us website in the LINKS sidebar which shows up on most pages. For anyone out there that is just getting started .. or THINKING about getting started, this book will take you a LONG WAY down the road to being an FV "expert". I hope many of you find it worth the effort it took to put it all together. I have verified the download in several browsers, but please post here if you have trouble downloading it and I'll work on the dl process some more or find another way to get you a copy.

BTW, Jim still has a few items left that he'd like to get rid of... check http://www.sracing.com if you are interested. He also has digitized an original VW parts manual that includes all the part numbers associated with the VW FV parts along with some very informative illustrations. Info about getting a CD copy is at the front of the BOOK download.

FWIW, "the book" has been downloaded over ONE HUNDRED TIMES since I made it available 6 days ago. Let's hope this translates into MORE CAR ON TRACK!!

Now up to 146 downloads .. where are these people? Guess, now that I think about it, many might be from outside of the USA.

I am amazed.... we now have had 181 downloads. I didn't think we had that many CARS left! Great response to a great resource.

My son is in the process of rebuilding my old Zink. When I saw this post I immediately downloaded the book and sent it to him. Even though he's been around vee's since he was born it doesn't hurt to give him more info. Hopefully he'll have the car done this year and be ready for driving school and licensing next season. Maybe there are more like him and we'll start seeing better fields again!

Steve:

seems almost impossible that there are that many active FV's. Might be right that some are from Europe and beyond.

I know that Jim had this manual for sale- I hope that people are contributing to the Formula Vee. org web site ( this site- often referred to as The Interchange- the real place for FV discussions!- yes I am partial.) . Sure would help to defray the cost to keep this site going!
Hint! Hint!

Well.. if anyone does want to donate, the DONATE option on the http://formulavee.us/Donate.htm website is the place to do it. Seems like $5 might be a pretty reasonable donation for the information provided. Any donations help to support that website and http://FormulaVeeUSA.org (same site, just different URL for search engines), as well as this forum.
