Re: Brake shoes

Since the angled adjusters do move the shoes fore and aft, sometimes you'll hear a bit of drag but nothing significant. Tap the pedal and it will usually go away. Some folks use two springs on the adjuster end to pull the shoe back down the slope of the adjuster.

Using super aggressive compounds on our shoes tend to diminish their ability to wear evenly. Since the brakes will lock up before requiring a lot of pressure, the shoes never get flexed into full contact position. That's why we rotate shoes regularly.

Always double check that the new shoes fit the drum properly. There should be just a bit of clearance at the toe and heel of the shoe and NEVER in the middle of the shoe. Test the center of the shoe with a feeler gauge; if there's clearance, you'll have to arch the shoe.
