carb question

Post by kidkoh »

ok I just took apart my new carb to adjust the float and I noticed that the float is not attached to the arm. I then looked at another carb i had and it is the same. my question is should the float be attached to the arm that goes across the bowl. it also seems that the float is upside down from the way it is stock. there is a weight on the bottom so i know that this is the way it should be but i would like to know why. thanks

that's done to prevent starvation and to stabilize the float. Without the weight, the float will bounce and possibly flip over. 99.9% of the vee carbs will have that mod. Do a search of the forum and float level discussions will advise about adjustments.

Also, no - the float should not be connected to the arm.
