Differenciating Long v. Short trans

Post by Steven McWilliams JR »

Hi everyone, I recently picked up the bodywork for my Vista from Paul C's house, who runs Ski-Motorsports. I am trying to take the transmission, and other usable parts off of another Vee I purchased. Iam going to install the short box for main track I'm going to run (Summit Point). Paul said that there is a way to tell which box you have by marking the third gear, and counting the teeth when you rotate the gear. Does anybody have anymore info, the exact method?

Thanks For your help,
Steven MCWiliams
BTW: I will also be running at VIR (Long BOx) and NJMP. Which box does NJ use?
