mixing body panels

This is probably a wierd question, but I'm wondering if there are any rules related to mixing a body/chassis combinations? In otherwords, do I need to replace damaged body panels and components with the same mfr or can I swap out other mfr or even custom made pieces?

Doesn't matter, if you can make it fit go for it.
