Transponder Location?

Post by gkrupa »

What should the location of the transponder be? Is one location better then the other?
What is better the hard wire or the rechargeable type? Thanks for the help

I use a hardwired transponder mounted on the front of the frame just below the beam. They must be pretty tough, it survived a head on crash into a tire barrier at Mid-O last fall and it still works fine. I was going fast enough to bend the beam back about 3 inches on one side.

Most locate it towards the front. The signal can go through fiberglass but not much else. You should try and protect it as it is only made of plastic and will bust apart if it takes a direct hit. The wiring shouid be routed in a way to avoid it getting cut, if hard wired.

You will want the hardwired type. They are a bit cheaper and remembering to have to charge the rechargable ones is a pain. The rechargeable type is mostly for Karts, or systems that don't have 12V readily available.

We have both types in stock.
