June meeting

Post by Dietmar »

The FV Ad Hoc Committee met on June 22
Members attending: Steve Oseth, Stevan Davis, Bruce Livermore, Dietmar Bauerle
Guest: Fred Clark

Old Business: Due to continuing discussions on the Interchange regarding offset bushings, the Committee again discussed the meaning of the term: “offset bushings” and “clearancing” and the current interpretation of the terms as used in the GCR.

In the opinion of the committee, the intent of GCR paragraph 9.1.1.C.3.A.9 is to allow "offset link pin bushings" even though the term "offset suspension bushings" is used in the GCR. The committee also feels that the permitted "clearancing" of the carrier and trailing arms was intended to facilitate the use of offset link pin bushings only. Therefore the committee will submit a request for a rule clarification to the CRB to clear this up. They may disagree.

New Business: a question arose as to the Committee’s opinion with regards to REM treatment of transmission components.

The Committee would like to state that they can not support the legality of any material or surface treatments of the transmission components based on the definition of FV as stated in 9.1.1 C.1 B : "FORMULA VEE IS A RESTRICTED CLASS. Therefore, any allowable modifications, changes, or additions are stated herein. IF IN DOUBT, DON’T"

We take this to mean that if it is not stated as allowed, it can not be done.

No component ...shall be modified,... unless specifically authorized.

No other items were presented or discussed.
