May minutes

Post by Dietmar »

The FV Ad Hoc Committee met on May 26

Members attending: Steve Oseth, Stevan Davis, Bruce Livermore, Dietmar Bauerle

Guest: Fred Clark

With no new business on the agenda, discussion centered around the current format for RunOffs qualification requirements.

In years past, qualifying was restricted to the top three, then six and most recently 10 from each Division. More than ever, the current system of unlimited entries seems to heavily stress car counts over driver ability. It is the Committee’s hope that SCCA will change the current policy. At least one committee member is planning to write a letter to the CRB requesting further evaluation of the current practice.

OLD BUSINESS: Manifolds

The F/SR Committee accepted our recommendations with regards to manifolds published in last month’s minutes. They have forwarded these recommendations to the CRB. It is now “out of our hands”- so to speak. Have to wait and see what transpires.

Increasing minimum weight:

It was the opinion of the F/SR Committee that the question of increasing minimum weight was not adequately supported by the membership and so the item was dropped from consideration. It was further stated (by the F/SR Committee) that the letter which we ( the Ad Hoc Committee ) addressed was not really a formal proposal but rather a suggestion. If a formal proposal were presented with a specific weight increase, the issue might be reconsidered.

No other matters were presented or discussed.

Next meeting scheduled for June 23.
