New Blueprinted Engine Case...SOLD (long time ago)

Post by sharplikestump »

This is the very heavy aluminum case. Cylinder seats are decked parallel and equidistant to centerline of main brg. bores, which are checked along with cam bores. Has oil baffle and tube for deep sump installed.
I built it, but no one wanted the extra weight, so I tore it back down and transferred everything to a new mag. case. This case has never been in a car or out of the shop. $395.

Just curious at this point, but I've heard from several folks that the aluminum case is "quite a bit heavier" than the mag case.
Wondering what constitutes "quite a bit"? Couple of pounds? 10 pounds?
Thanks!

Never weighed one but via feel I would guess 6 to 8 lbs.

I will weigh this anchor and report back, but my guess is that it is at least 10 lbs. more.

Sure in Colorado, but I think it's only 8 closer to sea level. :P

Jim: Correct me if I'm wrong, but technically wouldn't both cases weigh less up here, being further from the center of the earth, and therefore wouldn't the difference also be less?
I did weigh both cases and the difference is roughly 14 lbs, up here (so if my theory and calculations are correct, I figure the difference at sea-level is right at about 100 lbs.) You might wanna double check my math.
Waitaminute.....I'm the SELLER......umm, I think that means it would actually be LIGHTER at sea-level!

Seriously, this case IS approx. 14 lbs. heavier.
Ideal for the 120 lb. driver with a car that is too light in the rear.
