Re: Steve's Runoff's 2019

Ouch. I'm sorry you had such poor luck. I had to watch on my phone while driving :) But very light traffic so not so bad. Just not a large enough picture. Saw the turn one smashup and was praying you'd get through unscathed. Not to be. Hope the next one goes better.

Re: Driver size?

Sure, you can fit.

I was 6'4 in my 20's and weighed about 205. Tight but doable.

When I raced a few years ago I was still 6'4 and about 215. Very tight, but that all depends upon the car. Choose by sitting in some cars being raced by people of similar size.

Good luck. You can do it.

Re: What type of formula car?

It's unusual to me. The width and shape are rather distinctive, nothing I can recall seeing before.

I notice that, like you, he is working FC. Might still be driving the V as well.

Re: What type of formula car?

The roll bar in the picture and your car is a dead give away IMO. Since the roll bar design is a bit unusual and quite wide, it's not something you'll see very often. They definitely match.

Re: What type of formula car?

Just a guess, a home built FSV. Definitely for an air cooled VW engine. The only category it fits is FSV or FS possibly. I remember something like that rear suspension on some early cars, but maybe not a FSV. It might be a production model. It's been a long time since I've looked at a FSV. The super...

I remember David by the name from my younger days. I remember his connection to FV mainly but also his enthusiasm for the club.

Re: 1966 Autodynamics FB

Interesting link Steve... I always wondered why Zink never built a FB, then looked at the southeast, 1972 and there is Harry Ingle listed in a Zink FB. It must be the only year. Maybe I knew it at the time. I met Harry for the first time in 71 or 72. Harry was my instructor at the SCCA school, Road ...

JB, not as many on here doing autocross as road racing, IMO.
