I found the posts that describe turning the wheel 10 revs and counting the input shaft to determine the gear ratio, but the links to the spreadsheet are broken - anyone have the spreadsheet to decode the number of revolutions?
Thanks,
Jim

Re: American Racer compounds
Yeah, Boubin replied to my inquiry stating they can only get the 132 compound. Still, four new tires for $400 sure is nice.

American Racer compounds
I see on American Racer's website that they list two compounds for the FV tire, a 131 and a 132 compound - they say 131 is softer. Anyone have any insight on what works better or availability? Boubin's website only list the 132 compound. I like the idea of 131 up here in the PNW where it rarely gets...

Re: Leading arm attachment
Why is zero roll only found on an FV? Is it not a suitable design for other class open wheel cars?

Re: Wheels studs vs. bolts
I did red loctite at the beginning of the season, changed all tires at least twice per weekend (trailer tires vs. leaker american racers) and zero problems. If you haven't gone to studs yet, you will be loving them immediately!

Very cool, great reading, thanks Steve! Can't imagine the hydraulic dive front suspension - and I've restored a Citroen (including the insane hydraulic system) recently!

Re: Leading arm attachment
That makes sense Steve. Any movement of that shock and its bellcranks fore and aft would be uncontrolled (un-dampened and un-sprung) "slop" so to speak in the suspension. I'm currently trying to understand the advantage of leading arms (seems most popular in the zero-roll setup) over trail...

Re: Leading arm attachment
I may be wrong, but it sure seems like trailing arms would be a simpler installation in that you don't need a lot of structure aft of the transaxle mounts. Looking at some Womer photos, it looks like some structure is required above the lower frame rail to attach the trailing arms at the same level ...

Re: Leading arm attachment
T An additional benefit of mounting the push rods at the wheels is that I am no longer using the trailing arms as mounts and am considering a winter project to convert my car to forward mounted arms. I've driven both types of cars and consider the front mounted cars capable of anti dive geometry an...

Re: Leading arm attachment
Does the lowered droop rod attach point (is that the correct terminology for the rod that goes up to the spring bellcrank?) allow some of the braking forces to be captured by that rod? Unlike my "normal" FV which has all braking loads transferred to the leading arm first, then to the droop...

Here's another question for the FV folks who would know: I saw this axle flange arrangement on an FV (Protoform I think) and I was wondering what the advantage is of this arrangement - that is where the zero-roll rod attaches to the axle flange (machined aluminum part bolted to the axle housing flan...

I watched Michael Varacins win the runoffs - what a great race that was! I was looking at the amount of ground clearance on his car - significantly less than any other car it appears. Maybe Steve Davis' car is almost as low to the ground, (I watched the video again - it's car number 81 that appears ...

VW loyalty $1000 cash on new VW
So, I went to my local VW dealer because I wanted to replace my aging Volvo wagon with a new VW Golf TDI wagon. They said if I currently owned a VW, I could qualify for the $1000 cash back offer for owner loyalty. I explained that I'm loyal to Volvo having owned everything from an Amazon to a 2008 X...

Re: spec tires
Will rain tires remain open? Even if a treaded tire is selected? Not that it matter up here in Seattle where we've had NO rain and none in sight - my new Hoosier rains still wear their labels proudly! Would the Hoosier 60 compound last longer in a regional environment than the AR's - or perhaps just...

Re: spec tires
ICSCC here in the Northwest follows FV class rules. I suspect an SCCA class rule requiring a spec tire would also apply to ICSCC since they incorporate by reference SCCA class rules. Is this thinking correct? In the past ICSCC has mandated a spec tire separate from SCCA rules; so I suppose they coul...

Re: spec tires
Is it possible that making the Hoosiers the spec tire that cost of a set may decrease?
Why do the ARs seem to last longer than the Hoosiers? Are the Hoosiers softer?

I'm running on a set of American Racers that have about six weekends on them, which includes 4 track sessions and typically 5 20 minute test and tune sessions. I think they are still OK because the car still seems to handle the same this past weekend - if not a little better due to some suspension t...

Re: Making a New body for my FV
Good points Steve, I measured the WB with car up on the stand, front suspension hanging by the limit cables. I think (but not sure, need to get the plumb bob out again) that when I put it on the ground and weight in it, the suspension will travel up and aft. thereby making the WB slightly shorter - ...

Exactly 127" from exhaust to nose, I measured the buck prior to pulling the mold and had to shave a half inch off the nose.
Actually from nose to rear plate, I removed the exhaust annular duct - but not sure if that annular duct is important?
