Re: Fuel testing rules

John, If the CRB recommends it, it is ALMOST a 'done deal'. You can write your letters of protest to the BOD@scca.com. Not sure if it will have any impact, but it doesn't hurt to try. I would also like to know what the CRB is attempting to achieve with this change. Steve (not the Steve that posted a...

Re: Revamped National Racing Program and Runoff???

Above all - I think the LOCATION of the Runoffs should be a place where people WANT to go - not where they HAVE to go to run the Championships...! e.g. I live in GA - but if the Runoffs were held at Laguna Seca, I would work HARD to get there, even as far as it is ... 2nd Creek Raceway? .. not so mu...

I guess there's also the cooling effect of the oil on the head temps to consider ... so .. maybe I DON'T know what I'm talking about - but it SEEMED like a good thought at the time

Re: oil cooler

My $.02 is that an external oil cooler is a general waste of effort and complexity for a strictly Solo 2 car. You will NEVER get the oil hot enough to benefit from the cooler - you'll actually probably be better off WITHOUT it as the engine will be somewhat 'freer' with hot oil than with cold oil. I...

Butch
Butch, the requirement is "in your paddock space" - so 1 should get the job done (just hope more than one car doesn't catch fire at the same time  )

thanks Terry
Last number I have for Mike is
(303) 838-9515 - the area code may have changed, but I'm sure he's in the same place .. probably same number. Shawnee, CO IIRC. If you get him on the phone, ask for an email and PM it to me.

Re: On board camera suggestions

I meant DOUG rather than Scott in my previous post :-). Ian, Thanks for the pic - that's pretty much exactly what I did with mine. Can't imagine why it refuses to work on my car - there's not a heck of a lot to it. Maybe it thinks I just don't NEED any incar video? :-). The 2 laps that I did get wer...

Re: On board camera suggestions

Scott, Can you send me a pic of your camera strapped to the roll bar? I can't imagine what's wrong with my setup, but neither of the TWO cameras I tried would work. Are you using Alkalines or rechargeables? (I've tried both with same results). How long are your batteries lasting? Steve Steve [at] We...

Re: On board camera suggestions

Scott, FYI - I bought one of those Hero3 cameras and have had extremely poor luck using it on the race car. It works VERY well when hand held. I've used it skiing - both water and snow and had really good results (next year, I plan to devise a method to attach it to my ski helmet <G>). However, on m...

With regard to the FV horn issue: first, member input is not a "vote"; second, the 19 against, 12 for are only the letters that arrived in January - others were received earlier. Let me observe that saying you are for or against something without stating a reason is less convincing than s...

Gary,
If the track has a problem with leaving it there, Byron and Max Stouffer live right across the fence from the front straight (Formula Cars East). They can probably help you out.

Re: Front suspension crack testing?

Beyond what Dietmar says - YES, the Vee front spindles are VERY WELL known to be a potential problem. However, a BIG step in the correct direction for extending the life of those spindles is to install a 'kit', such as that made by Mike Palermo (Peak Performance FV Engines) that provides a spacer th...

OK - that's ONE down. (Actually, I see we have 3 more signed up today :P ) Still more to go though. It sure would be nice to get EVERY Vee - at least every Vee that's internet active. Is there any reason why a Vee racer would NOT want to sign up?

Missing Registry members

The new US Formula Vee website has been 'debuted' and the FV Registry is coming along nicely at 219 members as of this morning. There are still quite a few of you that have not updated your info with the new fields - please do so when you have a chance. I took a few minutes and looked over the entri...
