Contact info for Randy Fisher?

Randy wrote an article currently posted on the SCCA site. I'd like to duplicate it on the FV.us site if I can get permission from him. Anyone got contact info?

Re: Oak Tree National VIR

We didn't race until almost 5P :-(. LONG trip home arriving a little after 2 this morning. Andrade decided he had had enough racing after 4 weekends in a row, so he packed up and headed home. Schiff had car problems all weekend and was thoroughly disgusted and went home as well. Morning qualifying w...

Harry Schneider had a old Bobsy (FV) for sale at the 45th - don't know what he wants for it - ad said 'make an offer'. I think he'd like to get rid of it. It's at Chris's (his son) place in PA somewhere. He's not on this forum but you can reach him at fv20 at nac.net

Re: egine will not stay running

A LOT of people (and cars) don't run a fuel filter. I do recommend them though. I actually have TWO filters on mine - 1 before and one after the pump. Speaking of the pump - it could also be your problem. And you should make sure that the vent line to the cell is open (blow into vent with the fuel c...

Re: egine will not stay running

Colin, If you left fuel in the carb over the winter, AND it was regular automotive fuel (not avgas) then it's highly likely that you have some enamel built up in the carb. Regular gasolines evaporate over time, leaving behind a filmy enamel that coats "things" in the carb and plugs up the ...

...Anyone know how James Vaseff is doing? Jim got back to the track from the hospital just fine - no real problems, but they had drugged him up a bit and he really didn't feel too well anyway... Charlie Roger's dad (also of the same name) drove Jim's truck (with car in tow) back to his home in Stoc...

Re: Revamped National Racing Program and Runoff???

Brian, Interesting comment about travel costs associated with bringing National SCCA staff to the Runoffs venue ... and I agree. I don't see that the Runoffs are ONE BIT better now that National is 'handling' things. I also find it interesting that the cost to us of the Runoffs being in Topuka, is H...

Re: Revamped National Racing Program and Runoff???

VERY few 'serious' national drivers ever take points at Regional events. Occasionally someone will simply forget to fill out the blasted paperwork required by SCCA ... and unfortunately, SCCA REFUSES to allow a driver to 'extricate' himself from the points list after the race (can't imagine why, but...

Re: FVresults for Atlanta National?

At least in this case, I knew all THREE of the drivers in the other cars quite well (besides Hearn and myself) - I think everyone did everything they could to avoid an incident and continue to race for position. No one made any BONZAI or BONEHEAD moves - there just wasn't enough room at the precise ...

Re: Fuel testing rules

Kevin, I'm inclined to agree with most of your points - however, IMHO, it is IMPERATIVE that SCCA make a rule that clearly states the INTENT of that rule - and that is to NOT allow exotic fuels. Most people want to abide by the rules, however if the rule is that "there is no rule", then th...

Re: FVresults for Atlanta National?

Dennis Andrade and Charlie Hearn trekked in from out west to visit our track. I had the pole (barely) with Hearn right behind. Schiff was 3rd and Andrade 4th, Charlie Rogers 5th with several more cars behind him. On the start I held the lead through T1, but Andrade and Schiff got together with Schif...

Re: How Much oil?

In *MY* experience, it is also almost impossible to check the oil with it cold. Using the dip stick on cold oil gives me a false low reading. If I add oil to bring it up to my mark while cold (this is RUNNING 'cold'), it will just blow it all out ... all OVER the place in the next session. I TRY to ...

Steve, have you tried using optical character recognition (OCR) for that? ... John, I CONSIDERED it, but don't have a really good OCR program and could see myself spending anOTHER 20 hours trying to get it to work right ... so I opted for the "picture" of the text instead. Steve

Re: Front beam Spring Pack question

Keith, You shouldn't have to put it on the track to find out. It's all about holding the car at the right level and if it does that, then you should be OK. You want the Turkey legs to be "about" level with you in the car - and it should move up and down more or less freely (no shocks for t...

Re: Front beam Spring Pack question

Keith, I'd say something is WRONG with your assembly. Take it back apart and I'm pretty sure you'll find that not all pieces of the spring pack are inside the left turkey leg. The ends of the springs don't get 'rounded' (too hard) and the inside of the turkey leg won't get 'ovaled' unless you leave ...

Re: Fuel testing rules

Several seem to think that the penalties for running ILLEGAL fuel should be SEVERE . Be careful what you ask for. I have a very low confidence factor that illegal fuel can be accurately 'found' and therefore ALWAYS NOT FOUND in fuel that is truly legal. You might end up on the WRONG end of that stic...
