Just curious at this point, but I've heard from several folks that the aluminum case is "quite a bit heavier" than the mag case.
Wondering what constitutes "quite a bit"? Couple of pounds? 10 pounds?
Thanks!

Re: oil filler oil leak
The inside pipe wrench is exactly what to use. When I had the same issue, and had no luck with the screwdriver method, a local, nationally regarded transmission builder and FV guru graciously loaned me his "officially sanctioned and specifically engineered tool" for the problem. Yep, you g...

Re: Continuing AD Restoration
Interestingly, I pulled one that was square out of a FormCar that I was trying to restore. Actually, the ends were square bar stock and the center section (about 18" or so) was turned into a (kind of) round section. Looked like it might have even been done with a grinding wheel...certainly not ...
Re: WTB: Rim
Check with Bob Lybarger at LRE. He usually has a quite a few used rims and if you're willing to do some clean up and paint, they're usually very affordable.

Re: Front beam bump stop removal
FVArtist has it right. I run a vintage Zink and the front beam has the horns removed. The holes in the upright from the horns provided a nice place to run brake lines on this particular car. The downside is that FVArtist says, you do need to put blocks between the turkey legs and horn stub or other ...

Re: Electronic Ignition
That would be correct...vintage rules (in all groups that I know of) do not allow electronic ignition. Points / condenser units only. Given our hp / generator / fan setup, I've never seen much of a disadvantage to this. The added benefit is that I still can use my '52 Chevy teenage-acquired skills o...

Re: Don't Drive Like My Brother
Y'know, it seems there is just no limit to the ways F1 (Bernie and Max) can find to alienate, aggravate, get further from touch with, disappoint, astonish, bewilder, (OK, I'll quit but could go on for a long time) their fan base. I guess the concept of "fair use" for the purposes of analys...

Re: Early Autodynamic ?
I'm sure that Bob Shedd will chime in on this. The rear engine cover of the car and a lot of the detail features are an exact match for an Autodynamics that I just sold. Check the " Vees for Sale" section of the Interchange and you will see some photos of the car I sold. Bob Shedd told me ...

Re: Question for Vintage Vees in Vintage Racing Group
I run with VSCDA and we follow (?) Monoposto racing rules for car prep. The question mark means that some folks don't seem to closely follow the rules. Most do, I think, even though there are some that will do anything for a couple of horsepower. Here's what the Monoposto Vintage Vee Class Spec says...

Re: What make of vee is this?
As I look at the frame in question again... Wouldn't it be pretty hard to get your legs in and feet down to the pedals in this frame? Look at the braced crossbar just below the steering/dash support. Can't imagine how that would work unless the photo perspective makes something seem to be somewhere...

Along the lines of posting photos...
Could someone refresh me on how to do it on the forum without using a link to a photo site? I read the instructions in the FAQ but could not make it work when I tried. I'd like to post a for sale item with photos.
Thanks!

Re: erratic engine
I can add to Jim's comments that as a result of a loose battery terminal and an unexplained (until after a lot of troubleshooting) dead engine coast up to a flag stand two laps from the end, we added "Battery Terminal Tightness"
to our checklist.
