Re: Low turnouts
We tried Club Vee here in the NE a few years ago. While the initial results were promising, in the end, we found out that people were not coming out for a trophy. If it cost $X.xx to race, it did not matter if you were fighting for 4th or 14th. I have floated this idea before, but there will need to...

Re: Trailer Question?
I remember (the 80's) when EMRA guys used to show up with 6 x 12 U-Haul trailers - when they would rent you just the trailer. They had a frame of 2 x 4s set up on the perimiter that they strapped down to. Some cars had to take off the exhaust and nose but they fit in. Since in those days they rented...

Karting Race at Lime Rock - Fundraiser for Special Olympics
It is time for the annual Special Olympics Karting Challenge at Lime Rock , May 20 and 21. Put on by the Special Olympics of CT staff and run by Endurance Karting, the 4 hour enduro on the Lime Rock autocross track has proven to be a fun and competitive event for both experienced and novice drivers....

Re: Roller Wheel Bearing Adjustment
On roller bearings I was taught to eliminate free play, then preload 1/8 of a turn.
Preloading rollers is usually a bad idea. With disc brakes the rollers heat up and expand and since they have no where to go they end up binding and failing. Now on a FV with drum br...

Re: LimeRock no longer a momentum track
Before eveyone gets in an uproar, the existing track, the "classic" Lime Rock is being preserved, so groups may have a choice over which track to run. The ALMS cars will probably run the "new" course while the SCCA may have options as to what parts they want to run. One advantage...

Re: Crossle FSV For Sale
Just to set the record straight, Chuck did finish it off, but it was built by Frank Reciniti when he worked at Skip Barber Racing. He took a Lola and a Crossle and made a Crossola or a Loossle? Don't know if this adds or detracts from the value <grin> ChrisZ From http://www.motorsport.com/news/artic...

Re: butterfly steering wheel and front roll bar height
My feeling is that the roll hoop/steering wheel rule is nonsense. Here is the basic concept of the roll cage: 1. The rear roll hoop needs to be 2"above the top of the driver's helmet (should probably be 4") 2. The front roll hoop needs to be tall enough so that the driver is under a line b...

SCCA Advertizing
Hi guys - remember me? I started this thread - didn't know it would take off with a life of it's own. Got my answer back from SportsCar - a simple display ad in the classifieds would cost between $40 - 90 per month depending on size, color, etc. Since the DVD seem to have the support of the FV commu...

Promoting Formula Vee
Looking through SportsCar, I noticed there was a FV for sale. How many months were there no car for sale? Not that cars were not available, just that not in SportsCar. Can it be that we will not get new drivers if we don't promote outside of this forum and a few other sites like SR? A few years ago,...
