Re: trailing or leading arm rear suspension?
"making for a long section without a good way to keep it from wanting to twist or bend up in even the slightest hits." Assuming zero roll rear suspension, why does it matter if the frame twists? How do we know the Adams has bad aero, the Vortech good aero and good cooling? Brian Brian, Mi...

Butch - if you still have them and can bring them to the ARRC at Atlanta, I'll take the 4 remaining ones.

Re: Dbl SARRC at Barber 8/29-8/30
I REALLY hate to have to report this, but the weekend recap is pretty dismal. I was there (trying to sort out my car) and started at the back so as to stay out of everyone's race. On Saturday, Jim Vaseff pulled off on the pace lap with an unknown problem. After starting behind by about the length of...

Re: Super Vee wins Eagles Nest Hillclimb
Maybe you guys don't KNOW John Finger ... ?? I'm pretty sure he still holds the record at Chimney Rock and I'm positive that he took FTD there MANY times. He's been more active in Club (and Pro) racing in recent years, but I haven't seen him at the track since last year now. It's possible that he's ...

The shawl over the rocker adds a nice touch - not to mention the (apparently) free standing LAMP  . That think sure looks longer than 24 feet - did you take the car out when you shot the pic towards the front or are both pics taken in the same configuration? I have a 24 footer and I don't s...

Re: RACEceiver Driver Information Systems
From what I've read, it not a timing and scoring product.... If you ignore what Pegasus has to say and go to the company website http://www.raceceiver.com/news/index.php?n=d&id=6 , you will see that it *IS* a T&S system and only works (for YOU) if that system is installed and functional at ...

You could always take the car back outside overnight .lee wrote:...Considering the track rules about having to vacate the track at the end of the day, I'm not sure if doing a swap on a Lynx could be done.

Re: RACEceiver Driver Information Systems
Seems to be a TRACK T&S system to compete with AMB ... they are, however, about 4 years too late to get in the game. AMB is pretty much locked in already - at all SCCA events anyway.

Brian, Don't know of anyone who's "worn out" a gearbox ... however, *I* have burned about 20 axles, fulcrum plates and side gears over the last 10 years or so. Makes the car go 'kinda slow' when that happens too ... :-(. They usually come out as a UNIT - one melded piece of conglomerated a...

Lee, I'm certainly no trannie expert - however, I'd guess that if it has run before for you without problems, then it probably will again. I WOULD remove the broken tooth from the magnet tho' :-). It seems odd that the spider would develop a broken tooth. I'd more expect it to DEMOLISH *all* (or mos...

Re: trailing or leading arm rear suspension?
Chris, In addition to Kevin's thorough discussion of the pro's and con's ... IMHO - *my* PRIMARY reason for using a single shock rather than 2 is *COST*. With the price of good shocks, this is quite significant. If you can make a car work with just one, and it's legal, WHY would you use 2? :) As for...

Re: FV Driving Technique Books
Bob, If I might offer some sage advice.... FV racing (ANY amateur racing...) is about several things (mostly <G>) IMHO - in order of importance 1). *NOT* crashing!! 2). Drive SMOOTH 3). Going fast 4). Race craft 5). Winning If I might reemphasize NUMBER ONE - DON'T CRASH .... especially don't crash ...

Dean,
Great race and good video. Those Go-Pros work really well ... when they work .
Good drive.
I've never been to BHF, but it looks like fun!

Re: SEDiv (SARRC) FV Drivers
Lee, That seems to cover it, but I would suggest that you MIGHT want to 'open the window' on tires for the first event at the ARRC - if you have one. It might be a bit difficult to get everyone over on the same new tire that quickly. The other 2 items are relatively easy. You could allow GY 600's (i...

Re: Low turnouts
Mark, The GY 430 is NOT the equivalent. GY approx equiv would be the 600 compound. The 430 is a 'current' (actually last year) vintage national level tire. Not sure what the production status is of 600's, but you can check with Eric in SEDIV (CompTire South) or any of the other GY distributors in th...

GREAT DVD of B'Day party from Paul Schiemer
I just got a copy of a DVD that Paul has put together on the B'day party. Believe me, if you did not attend the event, you WILL want to get this one. Re: reverse lock-out
Although methods similar to Dan's will work, the BEST way is to fabricate something at the trannie nose piece - MUCH less susceptible to wear as time passes. I've seen one (years ago) that clamped onto the nose piece and had a bar/plate extending out to the end of the hockey stick when in reverse. I...
