Just curious for now - the GCR says we can use any distributor that's made of the same material and dimensionally identical.. Does this mean any of the current Bosch 009 copies are OK? Chinese, Euromax, EMPI, Pertronix..? And I assume that makes the billet pertronix versions illegal?

Thanks Barry - looks like the difference in diameter between the two gears is 4mm (same as the difference between the 12v and 6v flywheels, obviously..) so using a 12v starter with the correct bushing would put the gear 2mm farther than a 6v one.. It's definitely far for a lot of the West Coast guys (especially those of us in Canada!) but I think a lot of us are already planning to attend anyway. Whether I'll race or spectate is a different matter, but I'll do my best to be there!

Why do spec tires (and more often than not, treaded tires) work for FV everywhere else in the world other than the US?

In reply to the first point - was FV ever meant to have +$25k cars? +$5k motors? Wind tunnel tested bodies? Things change.. And point number 3 proves a point I tried to make a few months ago - we need to legitimize the FV committee, otherwise they're just wasting their time. If that 3r point is true...

My brakes are sort of taken apart at the moment, but I can try to take a picture tonight. I'm not sure if they're still the same as when Bob had them - The previous owner relocated the whole pedal assembly, so I don't know if he might have affected what Bob was mentioning..

Were the drums brand new, or did you have them turned before bedding in with the new shoes? Also, have you checked that the shoes are making contact with the drum all around? I hear that there are different sizes for shoes to match new or oversized drums, so maybe your shoes are only touching either...
