Proposed Runoffs Qualification Rules For 2011
I'm a little surprised that this hasn't come up here before and to be honest I haven't thought about it enough to provide input but the SCCA is asking for feedback on new Runoffs Qualifications Rules for 2011 and beyond which can be found in the Sep Fast Track but I have copied and pasted the langua...

Re: Fuel Usage at the RunOffs
So did the mini fuel cell come with a mini price? Not.... Brian Well, yes and no. I can get it for $500 to $600 which is probably somewhere around half the price of a 4 gallon custom cell. Not a good "value" but saving it is still a significant savings and is an option. However, I like Br...

Re: Fuel Usage at the RunOffs
Hi Ed, I just looked at the rules and it doesn't say that a fuel cell can't be mounted in the engine compartment but I'm not planning on doing that anyway. It looks like I can fit a 2.75" X 3.5" X 12" cell next to my current cell which should give me just about .5 gallons. Of course i...

Re: Fuel Usage at the RunOffs
I am going to look at getting a .5 gallon surge tank from ATL or Fuel Safe. Hopefully they don't want to charge $1k for that!

Re: Fuel Usage at the RunOffs
Steve and Brian, Thanks for the input -- unfortunately that is what I thought. And Steve, you are absolutely right -- it would really suck to be doing good and then to run out of gas at the end of the race. I tried to fit a 4 gal cell from my old Caracal today and it doesn't fit so I'm looking for o...

Fuel Usage at the RunOffs
For those that ran the RunOffs last year, do you know how many gallons of fuel you burned? I have a 3.5 gallon fuel cell and I'm wondering if it is big enough.
Thanks,
Ray

Re: Glen Results For Sunday's Race
It has been a long time since I was there, is it a short box track? I know the average speed is higher than most tracks, but is it very high speed on the back straight before the bus stop/chicane? What kind of top rpm in 4th? I think most people run a short box with a 22 3rd gear. I had a short box...

Glen Results For Sunday's Race
Did anybody get the results from Sunday's race at the Glen? I left before the results were posted.

I'm no expert on transmissions but wouldn't it be wise to drain it to see if any big pieces come out of it?

Re: Hosted iRacing Session at the Glen
I just figured out how to have a timed qualifying session vs. laps so I'm going to set it up so that we have a 20 minute qualifying session. I'm trying to set it up so that it is close to what we experience at an SCCA weekend. Please let me know if you have an interest in running this Thursday. I wi...

Re: Manifold Data
Hi Steve, I haven't changed any of the numbers and it looks like the numbers that are there equal the committee recomendations. However, there are a bunch of manifolds with "disallowed" by them in red and two different totals: Total Disallowed Using Max OD: 20 (line 140) Total Disallowed U...

Re: Manifold Data
Whoops, I screwed up. I was adding the 20 and the 18 in the spreadsheet to get 38 dissallowed. I guess it is one or the other so it is actually about 15%.

Re: Manifold Data
Wow, if this data is representative of the entire Vee community than 30% of the manifolds out there are illegal. Definitely a higher percantage than I thought it would be.

Re: Want to host iRacing sessions @ R.A.
I might be interested. I just started driving the Formula Mazda and they are racing at Road America this week so I plan on doing some of those races. I have also driven the Skip Barber car pretty regularly so that is good too. I think it would be better if everyone in the session is driving the same...

Re: Soft Suspensions
I have been thinking about this discussion and I'm wondering what is the best way to tell (handling wise) if a rear spring is too soft. Obviously if it is way too soft then it won't support the car but what are the tell tale handling characteristics if it is just a little too soft?

Re: My letter about the FV spec intake
Hi Bruce, Thanks for the response. Although I'm not in favor of the spec manifold, if the majority of the FV drivers want it then I'm going to have to live with it. I just want to make sure that proper due diligence is spent on ensuring that what is implemented is the best that it can be for us and ...

Re: My letter about the FV spec intake
Hi Bruce (Livermore),
We haven't really talked about time lines in these posts. Your obviously an advocate of the spec manifold and your on the FV committee. What do you think is a realistic evaluation to implementation time frame IF a spec manifold is introduced?
Thanks,
Ray
