Re: Anyone know what this is?

Bill is right, Joe Satterwhite would be a good contact. Found his number posted at Apexspeed (850) 877-5086

Joe's been around for a while. Good chance he'd know what it is.

Re: Anyone know what this is?

Didn't see them before, but it has Valvoline Pro-Vee stickers as well.

Someone out there in SE knows this car.... Mr. Davis maybe?

Re: Susie Bonneau Memorial at Road America

Thanks Matt, That is an addition (looks like 3/10/10) that wasn't in the original Cen Div schedule. Glad to see they didn't kill off both RA regionals. I'm partial to Milwaukee region, they always treat us (FST) very well. I don't think you'll see many FST's at that Chicago Regional on August 7 &...

Re: Anyone know what this is?

The body has got semi recent SCCA Club Racing stickers, so one would assume it has raced at SCCA events in the past 20 years. If so, the car must (well, at least should) have the log book number stamped into the main roll hoop. If so, the first three digits are the log book issuing region and the se...

Re: Susie Bonneau Memorial at Road America

Steve, This is a new deal. Read through the Fastrack, the BOD has approved two National events (Colorado and Utah Regions) to include regional classes in the National practice, qualifying and race group. The idea of this pilot program being to eliminate the extra restricted regional groups at nation...

Parting Out Whole Formula Vee

This started as a vintage Lynx B project and the car was purchased sight unseen (shame on us). When it arrived, it's actually a sort of Caracal C clone with plenty of mods. Might not be a bad car, but it's been parked outside in central California for a while. It's currently owned by Butch Deer and ...

Re: Susie Bonneau Memorial at Road America

Terry, You are correct and we are not (going National). Reading through the July Fastrack, you'll find this passage: Combined National/Regional Event Discussion: Want to combine Regional and National on track in same sessions, for Practice, Qual and Racing. Need specific exceptions to GCR to allow t...

Susie Bonneau Memorial at Road America

July 24th & 25th Milwaukee Region will host the only SCCA Regional at Road America this year. There will be a small armada of FST's attending as this is one of the Hoosier Tire US Formula First Championship Series events and was curious if anyone would be attending? Being that next year it could...

Re: June Sprints/Lowest entry since 1963

Steve,

I'm at the front of the line in this photo, but I was actually 6th or 7th in the race at that point.

I get "the schedule really sucks" thing for this year, but does that carry over for the previous 10 years as well? (Excluding the 40th in 2003 which started 75 cars IIRC?)

Re: June Sprints/Lowest entry since 1963

I remember those golden days of FV at the June Sprints. A number of times, I started the race with more than 70 others FV's. I think Matt has a point with the Runoffs qualifying changes, but June Sprints FV entries has been slowly shrinking (other than the 40th in 2003) for the past 10 years. Here i...

Here is one mounted on the front of an FST (sorry). We've taken them off as they are no longer required by SCCA (if you use a VW H-beam front suspension)

Re: Soft Suspensions

Brian,

I tend to agree with your theory, but come out to Nelson Ledges. You drive around aiming for the smooth spots. They typically put pylon cones around the suspension damaging potholes.

Re: Electric fuel pumps.

The older steel arm can be swapped out for the plastic one. Steve, This is 100% true if you have the same brand/version of mechanical pump. The trouble was that we (read Butch Deer of DRE and Jim Schings of SRacing) couldn't get the same model pump that we had steel arms from (lady luck was on your...

Re: Electric fuel pumps.

I think this has become more of an issue since the newer mechanical fuel pump arms have changed to plastic. Most fuel pumps in FV or solo vee last a very, very long time. If you have an old one, take very good care of it! Early on in FST, we found that the new fuel plastic arm actuated mechanical fu...

Re: Formula Vee Meeting during the Runoffs

Do I think it ( restrictor plate) to be a viable answer to the manifold issues? My (personal) response would have to be "yes". Dietmar, Lucky thing you were in Europe, your "yes" would have yielded you some very interesting replies. Put it this way, we learned all about how the ...

Re: FV to FST front beam

Roger, Switching over beams is easy if you have some basic mechanical skills. Here is a snipit of an article I wrote on converting FV to FST on the ball joint beam mounting info you're looking for. When you first get your new beam you will notice that the four mounting holes are not spaced the same ...

Re: Tires?

The reality is that even when there is a spec tire, some will still buy new tires every weekend. I don't care how hard or how well the tire is designed, there will be some degradation. Ask a Spec Maita or SRF racer and they'll tell you how it is. Brian, Sorry, but this argument is just not true. Th...

Re: Race Gas vrs Av. Gas

I have seen a significant difference in HP based on different fuels. You will have do some dyno testing to figure it out. Scott, Bob is a newbie/regional racer (3 or 4 FV races to date) who asked "is there any appreciable difference in performance between 110 Leaded race gas compared to 100 LL...
