Brian,
I am not here to help you figure it out.

Re: Magneto-rheological dampers
Two big loopholes in the rules. Figure them out.
Hint: as long as the shock is logging it's movement via the magnetic field, you are technically logging data. No different than the heater on an O2 sensor.
Hint 2: powering off the ignition system components.

So you think you're fast?
Here’s a crazy stat I wandered across and thought I would post. The pole time last year at Road America for FF was 2:20.678 The pole time for DSR was 2:00.970 I think we would agree the DSR is exponentially faster than a FF and a 20 second delta around the track shows that. Now, imagine turning a 1:...

Re: Spec Tires
Scott, There is absolutely no way that American Racer could support the nation for FV. They lack the distribution infrastructure, at treack support and most likely the production capacity. Plus, the tire sucks. :-) I would much rather look to Hoosier or Goodyear to make a custom spec tire for us tha...

Re: Spec Tires
Forget about spending time and money on the damn pistons and get on with working with tire companies for a FV tire package for the 21st century! We have tires. We're almost out of (legal) pistons and cylinders. Why don't you actually get the ball rolling and then get back to us. Let us know what Ho...

Re: Spec Tires
I already volunteered. No one gave me the go ahead. Page 3, May 16th. "If the FV community gives me authority, I will negotiate with suppliers, test tires at my expense, and deliver a spec tire program to SCCA by Oct 1, 2012. There would be no charge to SCCA or anybody else. I would absorb all...

Re: Spec Tires
We don't need to tell them to make us a harder tire. We tell them what our objectives are, (more cycles before wearing out, minimal degradation over x cycles, standard sizing, etc) and we let them build us a tire. They know best what compound and construction will best meet performance and cost obj...

The R55 and the R60 are the exact same compound now.hardingfv32-1 wrote:So what is the plan? Is someone going to approach Hoosier about only providing a harder compound, say R60? Who could represent FV in this case?

Re: May Minutes
Just to drive home the point. The entire point of the exercise is to develop a spec for what a piston is today. There is nothing preventing someone from sending in a letter to the CRB asking for a rule change to allow different or free ring grooves.

Re: Spec Tires
Oh come on Mark. Let's compare engine budgets to F1 while we're at it. Tire manufacturers aren't idiots, neither are all of us. Spec tires are created or chosen depending on the class fundamentals and the objectives for having a spec tire. Tiago's response would be typical of what most rational ind...

Re: Spec Tires
I do agree with Greg that those in favor should write the CRB and express frustration that they did not at least ask for member input and instead just dismissed our request. I never said that. The CRB does not give a damn. I said "write the BOD and demand that SCCA let FV select a spec tire an...

Re: Spec Tires
Spec tires are designed for different cars in different classes with different criteria. That is why Hoosier builds the 60A Spec tire which is used on FST and CFs where durability/low cost is the priority. If you want the Hoosier 60A as the spec tire, you already have that. The 60a and the 55 are t...

Member Input Requested - Min Weight Change
The latest FastTrack has been posted and member input is being requested regarding chaning minimum weight. Whether you are for or against it, please submit your input to the CRB. This is the only way SCCA will get an accurate picture of the will of the class. FastTrack: http://scca.cdn.racersites.co...
