Re: Fuel tanks?

If you are looking for a small Aluminum fuel cell for a Solo Vee check out a Jaz cell. I think Jegs and a few other places sell them for around $165.00. They are small part wedge shape, rock solid and will fit most Vees. http://www.jazproducts.com/aluminum_fuel_cells.html 4 GALLON ALUMINUM FUEL CELL...

Re: Bulb for Trouble Light

I've used the same fluorescent shop light for over 10 years, drop it all the time and never replaced a single bulb. I guess I'm just lucky. I also use one of these Craftsman Led lights, a little pricey but it gives off a lot of light. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_03473904000P http://s.se...

Re: Bulb for Trouble Light

The florescent bulbs are a lot more shock resistant, they do not contain a wire filament to work or break. The florescent tube actually makes the gas inside the tube glow to produce light. I'd either switch to a florescent drop light to go to LED. I'm current using one from SEAR's and it's great, I'...

Short Axles ?

I've heard that Vee's use "short axles" how do you identify a short vs a long axle? Is it simply the lenth of the axle?

Re: RACEceiver Driver Information Systems

Thanks jb_11

and FV80 YES... that company does offer a Timing and scoring product (RACEceiver's Race Management System) BUT that is not what is in the picture or what I was inquiring about. The RACEceiver Driver Information System is a radio frequency receiver not a TRANSPONDER system for scoring.

Re: RACEceiver Driver Information Systems

From what I've read, it not a timing and scoring product. It a one way (listen only) race receiver which can be tuned to the tracks/sanctioning bodies frequency. It sounds useful for drivers who do not have spotters, crew...etc. Clearly not a substitute for the flagers (who keep us safe), but it sou...

RACEceiver Driver Information Systems

I know a few of the drivers in the National and Regional races run 2-way radios with crew, is anyone using one of these? "RACEceiver Driver Information Systems More and more tracks and sanctioning bodies are turning to the RACEceiver one-way radio as an effective way to get critical information...

Limerock 8-2008 National

I just posted some pictures of the National at Limerock in the Vee Photos area. The track surface looked great, I heard the track times were up but the Vee's ran in a large group of open wheeled cars... which resulted in a lot of passing , traffic, etc. within the classes. Honestly... from a spectat...

Limerock National Race 08-2008

Check out the attached link for the fist Limerock FV race since the repave. The track looked great, I heard the lap times were up. We were lucky, the majority of rain held off until after our group, except for some sprinkles at the end. The link will take you to my yahoo/flickr photo page. All photo...

That's what really needed, as drivers needs, wants, and desires change, people/drivers will naturally drop off. While lower fees, opening up vintage classes, etc. will bring some back, you will still have drop off. Attract new drivers to formula vee!!!!!

Re: Carb Air Scoop?

No need for a pressure area for a NACA duct to work. "NACA ducts are useful when air needs to be drawn into an area which isn't exposed to the direct air flow the scoop has access to. Quite often you will see NACA ducts along the sides of a car. The NACA duct takes advantage of the Boundary lay...

Re: Carb Air Scoop?

While I agree that pressurizing or forcing air to the carb might not be a good idea... I think we'd all agree that using cooler air will produce more horsepower. At least thats what the dynos at K&N Engineering, say about cold air intakes. Too bad they don't make one for a VEE :) If I use an NAC...

Thanks John I think I'm going to get one of the motorcycle wheel balancers from the link. Re: Tire Balancing

I like the idea of using a front rim on the speed balancer (first making sure it's balanced also before bolting it on the rim). I've tried the bubble balancer... and I'm realllly bad at it.

Thanks!!!!

Tire Balancing

I've been tring to get a set of vee rims/tires balanced, and all my local tire shops and gas stations say they don't carry the adaptors any more for the rims. Once shop said he does them for one customer but he has this own adaptor. I could do them myself on an old shool blancer, but always felt for...

Re: Carb Air Scoop?

All this info is great, except I just pulled out all my photos from last years runoffs and except for a few cars... everyone had carb/oil cooler type scoops. Ok, so yes, many of the cars were Protoforms or Vortech's which come with scoops... I'm pretty sure that if scoops were a bad thing and create...
