Re: Getting Started in Formula Vee BOOK

Well.. if anyone does want to donate, the DONATE option on the http://formulavee.us/Donate.htm website is the place to do it. Seems like $5 might be a pretty reasonable donation for the information provided. Any donations help to support that website and http://FormulaVeeUSA.org (same site, just dif...

Re: Lynx B for free

Charles, What is the general overall condition of the car? Like... could it be returned to normal FV Club Race Vintage status? Does it have a log book? Year model? Roll bar number? When was it last 'raced' (club racing)? Got any pictures to post ? Seems like it would be better suited to returning to...

New AS41 universal engine cases for sale

I'm on a 'specials' email list from CIP1 and thought I'd pass this along to anyone that needs/wants a new case. I recall some pretty obscene prices in the not-too-distant past and also that the AS41 cases were no longer available with AL cases being the norm. These cases are AS41. Be sure to read al...

Getting Started in Formula Vee BOOK

Although Jim Schings has closed down his business and retired, he has given me permission to update and publish his FV BOOK (in PDF form) to the FV Community. I would like to thank Jim for his efforts and generosity in allowing this. I have installed it on the http://www.FormulaVee.us website in the...

Re: 2017 NE Drivers Schools Schedule

Is anyone aware of another New England area Drivers School for a novice? I would like to get a car and drive this year but can't find a lot of information on how to actually do that. Any assistance would be helpful. I can't help you on the school part, but there are several good cars available out ...

Re: Tires

Chris, I haven't bought any tires this year, but am confident that there have been no changes in the C3000/55's. As for the "Spec Tires", the only ones I'm aware of were built by Hoosier and it was a very limited run, although I don't know exactly how many were built. Also, as far as I kno...

Re: Tires

Jim, I assume you are asking with reference to spec tires. The crb meeting minutes a couple of months ago indicated that spec tires for Formula Vee have been delayed until 2018. So, same ol same Ol Tire as usual for this year.

Re: FV newbie in Texas wants to crew

Nick, I'm afraid there just aren't any other FV racers close to you. I'd suggest that you contact Bill Griffith at http://www.biggerhammerracing.com/ . He has a stable of vintage FV's - no doubt including a Lynx or 2 which would be similar to your car. He doesn't race SCCA, but you really don't care...

UNtwist a sway bar? .. or have for sale?

I have found that my 5/8 sway bar is TWISTED on my vee. I'd guess it's about 5 or 6 degrees - which I consider TOO MUCH. I have successfully straightened a BENT sway bar but not untwisted one. So... does anyone have suggestions as to HOW to get the squares back to SQUARE with each other other than c...

Re: New guy interested in FV!

I just typed about 4 paragraphs answering your 'documents' question, but the forum LOST my reply (ARRGGGH!). Here we go again. Most race cars - at least cars raced in SCCA - will have a LOG BOOK linked by the ROLL BAR NUMBER stamped on the chassis on the roll bar near the intersection with the main ...

Sam, Welcome to FV! You should be able to find something in your price range. Locke, That sounds like a great idea, CA is a LONG tow for most vee drivers in the US, although that is not a reason why you shouldn't give it a try. In addition to here on this forum, I'd suggest that you post on the Left Coast Formula Vee forum ( http://norcalfv.proboards.com/board/12/vee-driver-f...

I doubt we could ever MATCH all those parameters, but there is a limit as to what could be gained with a wheel that was "about" the same overall weight - especially if it was a specific (or several possible specifics) that would approximately match those in the original link that Chris pos...

Re: FV future #2 wheel dimensions

Chris, Despite Mike's feelings, *I* think it would be a good idea to allow new (flashy type) wheels in the class... as long as they were not an advantage performance wise. Off the top of my head, I can't recall the weight of our original standard wheels, but it seems that the weights would be pretty...
