Re: Nationals

Bob Qualkinbush and I battled back and forth. The official results aren't in yet but we are aware that we were very close to the Cmod times. Peter Calhoun's time was only .5 faster than my time the first day. I finally found some pads that worked on my front disks. The Cmod times were faster the nex...

Re: Why Is the F5 Faster

qreshadow, After 9yrs of going to Nationals, looking back, I have noticed that all the new young guys that are coming into Fmod are F500/440 drivers. That may be the reason the F's are faster, young talented drivers. I don't know. I would like to think that the improvements that the Vee's have recie...

Re: Why Is the F5 Faster

Hi Johnny, Thats ok, I think we all know what you mean. My Vee has all the changes too except for the LSD. Its hard to know whats going on in Fmod. I would like to think that I haven't slowed down but we did improve this year than last. The only thing I changed for next year are the disk brakes, it ...

Re: Why Is the F5 Faster

Hi Mike, I believe you are right about the narrower track. When the course has a lot of narrow designs, the F5's have an advantage. If the F5 guys have their tranny set right, they have an advantage. They are also lighter. I remember reading were lighter is an advantage. I know, we have more horses....

Re: Nationals

Hi Mike, First of all, there are some good drivers in those 500's. The 5's and 4's are lower, lighter and narrower. I think all we can try to do do is make our Vees lighter, lower and narrower. Make them look like the other car. Thats what I am going to do this next year. I don't know if it will wor...

Re: Nationals

Hi Johnny, There was a little build up, but not bad. I don't think that it affected our driving. The courses were, I thought, good flowing courses. Some tight places, some open ye ha places. They were better than the asp. courses at Topeka. The concrete there was good, smooth and grippy, with some s...

Nationals

Hey, A positive thing happened at Nationals this year, we had 3 Vees competing against 23 F5 and F4 drivers. One more than last year. We did a little better than last year, we moved up to 18th, 19th and 20th. It was not fun driving in the half dry, half wet conditions on the second day, but it was a...

Re: Nationals

Lynn,
I won't have room to take the Vee home.
I would like to see the brackets first, to see if something can be done.
If I think I could fix it, could you bring the Vee to my house?

Re: Nationals

Sorry to here about your ankle Johnny, I just had shoulder surgery in Dec., I've only been at one Midiv so far, going to the championships Aug 22 23. I've only been to two regional events, not much seat time. I will have fun but I would have more fun if we had more Vee's participating. Yes, I'll say...

Re: Nationals

Well, I guess I'll be the only Vee at Nationals. I want to say " the Solo Vee is DEAD" when it comes to Nationals, but I know that there are a bunch of you all out there are not wanting to compete because of either the cost or your Vee is not ready to compete or you have other problems. We...

Re: Nationals

Hi Johnny, The Vee was on a chassis dyno. My son put it on u-tube. 98hp+.07%=105hp,,,,1914cc engine. The torque for the engine was 104.52 Do you think the disk brakes weigh less than drums? What is the cost of putting disks on? I do plan to add the other improvements to my Vee, but from what I've se...

Re: Nationals

Mike, We only did the engine modifications. The other mods, I feel, will not make the Vee any faster. I can stop my Vee just as fast with drum brakes. The only difference with the steering box is the difference in weight. My Vee has zero roll, it sticks to the ground, don't need limited slip. I don'...

Re: Nationals

Note,
The CMod times are the same as the 500's times. How about the 500's go to CMod and we have the class by ourselves.
Would anyone show up for Nationals then?

Re: Nationals

Mike, I put in a1914cc, thats all. You can see my dyno test on utube. Bob put in a 1776 I believe. He also dynoed it. I came out with 98hp/105 tor. Bob had little over 105hp/not as much tor. The courses were fun but our times did not reflect the performance we expected. You all need to write to the ...
