Re: Rewrite of Solo Vee Rules
I don't think anyone would consider running a Vee in A Mod but if that were your choice ........ 2006 PSCC A-Mod Season Champion, in my Vee. ===> Attendance trophy aside, the problem with Formula cars in A-Mod is that they always seem to be bigger/heavier than the purpose-built Specials...

Now there is a good idea. Blow through turbo (200+hp) and wings = AM  I like that. ...and you'll *still* be cursing snowmobile-powered competitors at the end of the day! Several years ago, I was at a Solo event where Formula Junior had FTD. Narrow width and miniscule weight mean just as ...

Re: Rewrite of Solo Vee Rules
vreihen, what would those parity allowances be? Equal power-to-weight between the Vee and FF? Leave the open wheels/tires on the Vee to make up for the swing axle and beam? I'm not on my regular computer to access the rulebook, but the only way that I see the Vee getting parity in Mod is to class i...

Re: Rewrite of Solo Vee Rules
I think the 600s would fit well with us. What do you all think? Just a wild thought. My $0.02 is that we should use the words "automobile-derived drivetrain" to compare apples to apples. In terms of weight and size, a Solo Vee is closer to a Formula Ford than it ever will be to a F-500, a...

Re: Annual Waiver Hard Card?
And the 2 pieces of paper cards we have now are stupid. You get a $4 pic taken every year and laminated them to make a nice card and by the time you do that the year is up in hence the reason why not many people udate there pic. About 12 years ago, I was at an event and the registration person aske...

Re: Annual Waiver Hard Card?
Am I reading this correct? So the $10 is for what? Releives me of signing the form "at some tracks" ? The $10 is for the card. Printing your annual waiver note on it is free. The card itself is probably best suited for race officials and other volunteer event staff, since it hangs ...

Re: Vee Roll Call
As I said, your approach should be inventive. Do you mean something like putting street tires on Solo Vees and trying for a new STV class??? My idea of indexing F-Mod based on the formula under which a car was built went over like a lead balloon when I proposed it last year, and bring...

Re: Where are all the Solo Vee Drivers
Maybe I mis-read your summary, but I assumed that you were asking for a paddle shifter allowance. If so, the nosecone end of that kit is hiding the mechanical key to making the VW gearbox shift sequentially. I wouldn't use it hydraulically, but rather as the template for how to build an electro-mech...

50% of event's drivers in Solo Vees!
I was at a local autox event on Sunday, and exactly 50% of the drivers were in Solo Vees. (I was driving stock class and my Vee stayed at home, or it could have been over 50%!) I should mention that only 6 drivers showed up for the event, but even so having three Vee drivers in one local autox these...

Re: working with Kevlar
I had to cut a whole bunch of 5oz Kevlar a few years ago, and bought the special scissors. They weren't anywhere near $70, though. When I got the Kevlar material in my hands, I tried cutting it with a pair of small telephone lineman's scissors that bounce around the top drawer of my toolbox, and I'l...

Re: Where are all the Solo Vee Drivers
I have a stupid question about your FV. Are you sure that it is a 1976 Bobsy FV? I was under the impression that Bobsy only made FV's from 1964-1966 (Vanguard), and a few (20?) Vega FV's in 1967. Just curious.....

Re: Where are all the Solo Vee Drivers
My own take on the problem is that the Solo Vee community lost a great deal of its talent pool of drivers and car setup people in the two years leading up to the Solo Vee rule changes. Between that and the economy tanking, it seems that people with the know-how to build a car to the limits of the ne...

I've seen frozen ones at a few groceries...anybody ever try these? Any good? Re: Air compressor & generators
Some autocross clubs have gas-powered compressors available for everyone's use. With the building/construction industry being in the crapper in many parts of the country, it may pay off to keep an eye on Craigslist or eBay to see if one pops up at a bargain price.....

Re: Gateway International Speedway is closed
Sad news whenever a track closes. This one strikes a personal chord, because we raced there in the 1997 One Lap of America and they were still paving it when we arrived. Our makeshift circuit that day included the pit road, and I remember laughing about NASCAR speeding penalties as the cars whizzed ...

Re: Anyone looking for a 1915 engine in Florida?
Unless I missed something, dual carbs are not legal in F-Mod on a 1915, only a 1600. Other than that, it sounds like a good option for someone looking to test the 1915 Solo Vee spec option.....

Re: Dry sump systems
The only way that a dry sump is currently legal in F-Mod is on a true FST car. You can't run the Solo Vee wheels/tires, engine specs, or anything that isn't 100% FST-legal, because you cannot swap allowances between the two different types of cars in F-Mod. If you could, I'd have a Rotax snowmobile ...

I don't think that you can mix and match the rules like that, but I haven't read the book recently to know whether FST and Solo Vee are two different items under F-Mod.....fezzic181 wrote:With FST being legal by the rule set it automatically makes dry sump legal.
