Re: Micro SD card size

I just purchased an Emerson HD Action video camera(EVC 355) and was wondering if I could get some advice as to what size micro sd card(s) I would need for a weekend's racing. From what I can find out on line I need a class 5 card, but not sure of the GB's that would be required. Any advice would be...

Re: August Minutes

OK, I'll agree that simply mounting a prepped beam takes 10 minutes (LP or BJ). Four bolts (in most applications) and it's mounted. What happens next is so vary dependent on the individual. So I hope it's agreeable that at record pace it could take 10 minutes and from that point, it could go as lon...

Re: Brake thought for the month.

I have just completed a race weekend and tested the semi-metallic Chinese shoes. They are quite cost effective, about $20 for a pair of fronts, did not require any bedding and seemed to be very kind to the drums. They do not work quite as well as the CT's and require more pedal pressure but for the...

Re: August Minutes

I was wondering if these 2 braces could be removed off the BJ beam and replaced with braces with LP beam hole spacing so that there is not a need to modify the chassis on most cars. Mark, Why not just drill (2) 1/2" dia holes in the BJ beam brackets to give it a LP mounting pattern. This is a ...

Re: August Minutes

Wheel widths/offset and suspension tracks are in the same range as the current FV setup? Is the center spacing of the torsion bar tubes of the BJ beam the same as the LP beam? Does the BJ beam use needle bearings? Brian Not sure about the widths/offsets Beam spacing is different and can cause some ...

Re: August Minutes

I realize that this is the beginning of a process, but all the energy that will be spent trying to make this happen for however many years or decades it takes ..... could be spent converting cars to FST in the immediate future, or finding a great control tire. As for rear disc brakes, whether the r...

Re: August Minutes

Steve thanks for the information. I think I was not clear about what I asked when I was talking about the 2 brackets for mounting, I believe you thought I was referring to the shock mounts? I was asking about the 2 vertical braces that connect the upper tube to the lower tube and each one has 2 hole...

Re: August Minutes

Dietmar will the proposal recomend using the current FST front beam rules? Meaning same beam, same shock tower mods, same calipers and rotors? Also will inboard shocks be allowed? And for the rear disc brakes are they the same caliper bracket as FST etc. Will BJ beams be allowed to have the 2 mounti...

There are 45 entries for the Runoffs which one short of hitting a 10 year record. My thanks to all who have entered and I'll be by to say it in person. This is the last year for Road America and the 50th anniversary for the Runoffs. If you haven't noticed, a special invite was extended to all forme...

Re: "new" carbotech shoes

I've tested the Porterfields too and found the R4 compound to be useless for racing, but the RD4 after being used at Road America and Fontana were good, but when used at Thunderhill, all four corners swelled and locked up. I called Porterfield about this and they had no answer to my inquires and no...

Re: "new" carbotech shoes

Matt the RD4 does not have a growing problem at least in my view. They grew less than the Carbotechs when new. I only had to move 1 click only in the rear which may have been my fault on the adjustment (meaning I could have had it tight to begin with) $240 I think is very reasonable for sure if you ...

Matt Clark wrote:Mark,
Are you saying they are $119 for all 4 corners?
$119 for the front or rear so $240 all 4 corners but I'm sure you can get 2 maybe 3 years out of them. I got 2 from the carbotechs and they destroyed my drums and always created a ton of brakes dust.

Re: "new" carbotech shoes

Just would like to report this year I have tested both Portifield compounds R4 compound is very very hard and required a excessive among of brake pressure and still was not slowing the car down. RD4 compound was then sent to me at no charge (Portifield was extremely helpful and accommodating) this c...

Re: Front wheel bearings

That said, if you actually run it, I would expect wear of the part to cause a new bearing and a used race, (or the other way around too) to cause problems due to not being 'matched' by running together. Bottom line, I would recommend always swapping the race when changing bearings. Might not always...

Re: Front wheel bearings

Thats funny Steve I remember my grandfather telling me the same and I never really thought about it. These days a lot of tappered bearings come seperate as a race and bearing and I always thought (what if they are not matched) but never looked into it as it was only for street cars and trucks. Good ...

They're ALL noisy. I installed a magnetic pickup on the front pulley and .. amazingly it was JUST as noisy as the original signal from the coil. I also added the "filter pack" from AIM - guess what .. Still the same noisy. Digital filtering (in AIM) helps, but it's still messy. MPH looks ...
